Allison found a cute activity to do with the kids at school. She’ll be helping with the Kindergarten class this year. She found this project that kids can do to color self portraits of themselves with masks on and without masks. Andy used one of the papers to make his own. He even made it look just like him for today down to the new haircut and shirt that he has on. Hre is what the project looks folded up.
I took Andy over to Rome’s for a haircut. Zach took care of Andy and even played the “I’m Thinking of..” game with him. Andy loved playing that game with Amanda for years. Now he’s taught the game to Zach and has Zach looking to find a harder thing for Andy to guess next time around. Andy needed his home done haircut taken care of before going back to school.
I spent today helping my dad work on cleaning out a basement. When I got home I was greeted by some cave drawings from Andy. He took chalk and made paint with it. Then he painted his “cave drawings” on the gate of our fence. He put the paint on his hands and feet to make prints, too. He was quite proud of his work. He couldn’t wait for me to get home to see it.
For most of the day I helped dad clean out a basement to prep it for remodeling. Of course when we got there a simple tearing out of carpet was complicated with a washing machine that overflowed the night before. So in addition to the carpet there were many, many pounds of water to clean up. The first couple of hours were just hauling out that wet rug and cabinets and molding. Then we finally got all the wet stuff out and mopped up. We worked on the room that was not wet and that was quick. That gave us more time to figure out how to get an upright full sized freezer out of the basement. This thing must have been from the 50’s because there was a frozen instruction book inside that looked like it was from the 50’s or 60’s. It was frozen solid but as it thawed I pulled it apart. There was no date on it. It was from RCA Whirlpool.
We had to remove the door to get it out and then had to flip it end over end up the stairs out of the back yard. Then it needed to be wheeled up to the dumpster on a dolly. It nearly fell over once, but we caught it. After the day of work plus taking Andy around the park a few times this morning I got in 17,800 steps.
