We received a review copy of OMG: The Magic Mistake. This is the second book in the Oh My Godmother series by Barbara Brauner and James Iver Mattson. Opinions are 100% my own.

It is probably safe to say that most people are familiar with the story of Cinderella and her fairy godmother. A kindly old woman who appears at Cinderella’s most dire moment of need and who expertly whips up a magic night on the town from some mice, farm animals and a pumpkin. Now imagine that fairy godmother is a slightly awkward 12 year old girl who has had very little training. On top of that she has to contend with the rigors of Middle School as well as friends and family plus she has to give her charge a dream wedding in 5 days. Mind you she has to find the groom, a dress, a cake, a location, a minister and more. If she fails then the whole world will hate her. If she succeeds she has to go to fairy godmother academy for 100 years. Not your typical fairy godmother, for sure.

Eva and I read this book a few chapters at a time over the course of a week. It is a pretty quick easy read. She probably could have read much of it to me instead of me reading to her but I love reading to her. We would read it at night while Allison tried to get Andrew to bed (If Allison is home Andrew will not go down for me at all, it is mommy or nobody). We tried to read it without giggling like crazy but that was super tough. This book is hilarious. It is also cute and funny and touching in moments. The only thing that threw me, but only for a moment was that this was book two. I would have liked to have read book one first to get the whole backstory, for instance what were her parents thinking naming their daughter Lacey when the last name was Unger-Ware. Who does that to their kid. It did make for more giggles though. Just the Unger-Ware part for Eva, the full name for me, Eva doesn’t need to know that the whole name is a riot.
