Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest

I’ve now see the all new Curious George A Halloween Boo Fest holiday special about 6 times. I received a screener of the movie to check out with the kids. It has become Andrew’s favorite thing to watch now. He is crazy about “ooh ooh” as he calls George. We’ve been watching many past seasons on Amazon Prime. George is now Andrew’s go to character.

But how is the special? It is a cute story of Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat enjoying Halloween at their country home. While there they learn the legend of “No Noggin” a ghost with a penchant for kicking off hats. George is determined to find out all about this mysterious character and also determined to win the costume contest at the town’s Halloween fair so that he can win a leaf vacuum for the Man in the Yellow Hat.

There is one very funny part in the special that I loved. It is a small exchange between Curious George and The Man in the Yellow Hat. As an adult it really struck me as funny because it was one of those small bits of dialog that takes a moment not to take itself, too seriously. It was my favorite part. It sort of went over the kid’s heads but if you are an adult and have grown up with Curious George and read the books and just know the character then you’ll probably get it, too.

The special comes out on Monday October 28th and will also replay on Halloween. Check your local listings for showtimes. I’d suggest taping of DVRing it to watch with the kids on Halloween night or afternoon. They will get a kick out of it. I’m pretty sure we’re going to wear out the screener before Halloween. We watched it twice this morning alone.

Below is the official press release about the show.

The Latest PBS Kids News

I received word that there are some fun things happening with PBS Kids. From new shows and specials to apps and a redesign of the PBSKids.org site there is a lot to talk about.

On Monday October 7th a brand new show will debut. That would be PEG + CAT a very cute and funny math based show for kids. I had gotten a screener for the show and even did a fun family activity around the show. I am looking forward to this new show especially because it is math based and might help the kids become more interested in math and science.

Along with the PEG + CAT TV show there is a cool new app called the PEG +CAT Big Gig App. Designed for children ages 3 to 6, the PEG + CAT Big Gig App leverages the original music from PEG + CAT to help kids understand math concepts such as numbers, counting, patterns and more. The app includes two activities: Big Gig and Sound Check. It is available for iPad, Kindle Fire and other Android devices.

Later in the month there will be a Curious George Halloween Special. This is the first ever Curious George Halloween special called CURIOUS GEORGE: A Halloween Boo Fest and it premieres 10/28. Here is a trailer for the special.

And lastly, the digital team at PBSKids.org has been working like crazy to launch a reinvented PBSKids.org site to serve kids ages 2-8 in one place.
