Andrew and I went to the comic book store today. Andrew is very proud to be able to tell me who all the comic book characters are. He points out all the characters and figures that he sees when we go to get comics. That is after he goes and gets a piece of candy from the candy bowl. It is his favorite thing. He always notices Deadpool and today wanted to goof around and take photos with him.
Of the books I picked up today there was one that I got a chance to read which was the IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Deviations one. This was a rif on their story from the IDW series where Leonardo is brainwashed into believing that Shredder was his master. In this story all four of the turtles are brainwashed into thinking that Splinter was their enemy and Shredder was their master. It was an interesting story. It didn’t resonate with me as much as the G.I. Joe or Transformers Deviations stories but it was decent overall.
Deadpool finishes out my first year in the Marvel Collector Corps. I signed up right when it started as a founder and now I have received my 6th and final box for the first year. I am going to renew my membership because I have received some really awesome things through this program. Great comics with exclusive covers, Funko figures, t shirts and other clothing as well as pins and patches. I am a big fan of this subscription service and recommend it to any Marvel/Funko fan.
The Deadpool box did not disappoint. There was a great t shirt, excellent patch and pin plus a fun exclusive cover to Deadpool #1, the latest series and iteration of the character from Marvel. I have to go and read that. I get all my comics through the Marvel Unlimited app so new comics come a couple months after they see print. There were also three toys inside, a Leaping Deadpool Funko figure. This is an exclusive figure to the Marvel Collector Corps and it is great. Deadpool is leaping in the air with his two katanas, one in front and one in back. The other toys were a plush Mopeez figure and a Dorbz figure with a cowboy hat and a broomstick horsey.
With two days filled with Deadpool awesomeness I am getting the urge to go and see the movie another time. This time I’d like to go see it with Uncle Mike. He’s got a matching Deadpool pocketwatch (that I got him).
