We All Need a Little Smile

Honey Dew Donuts

I did not go for donuts yesterday for Donut Fridays with the family. I didn’t go because someone in the house decided that he was having a bowl of Nutella, fluff and peanuts for breakfast. So, I did not go for donuts yesterday morning. I went this morning to surprise Allison with a coffee and the kids with donuts.

Our local Honey Dew was open for walk ins and so I went in to see what they had and they had these very cute smiley face donuts. I figured that with everything happening in the world right now we need a smile.

I tried to sleep and made it till about 1:30pm. Then I was up. I went to Twitter and took a look to see if things were on track for the Space X Crew Dragon launch that had been rescheduled from earlier this week. It looked like a go so I tried to get back to sleep but ended up staying awake. So, we watched the launch all together in our bed. I held my breath watching because of memories of the Challenger and Columbia. I didn’t want to see anything like that happening on a good day let alone during a global pandemic and civil unrest. Plus, I in no way wanted the kids to see something like that live. So I held my breath until the astronauts made it into the outer atmosphere. I don’t think it had as much impact on the kids since they have seen movies like Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy and space travel is almost normal for them. It wasn’t like that for me when I was growing up. The amount of movies and tv shows that I have seen since I was a kid that involve space travel is staggering. So, I can just imagine how many space based shows and movies the kids will see.

Runs on….

Easter Donut from Dunkin

That slogan from Dunkin Donuts that America Runs on. Well, today I ran all over the place back and forth over and over again. We started the day early with a trip to the Dentist for Andrew. He is going to a pediatric one because he had an issue at our dentist in that he got anxious over an appliance being put in his mouth to fix a cavity. We are working very hard to get Andrew to be a better brusher. We have not been as successful as we would have liked this past visit. In all we’re going to have several dentist appointments coming up including one tomorrow.

After dropping Andrew at school it was off to Krav for me. I was already frustrated with everything and so having a chance to get aggressive in a controlled environment to channel frustrations was a good thing. I hope that that would sustain me because I had to run back over across town to have my taxes done.

Taxes were not that painful this year and that was a good thing. I did not need to take any financial hit especially after seeing what the pre-insurance numbers were gonna be for the dentist.

Allison caught me and asked if I would pick her up something from Dunkin Donuts. She wasn’t going to have any time between the end of school and her activity that night so I got her something to eat. I couldn’t pass up the Easter donut that they had so I got one of those and hung out there until it was time to pick up the kids.

Got the kids and then dinner at Chili’s before taking Eva to dance and Andrew to Karate. Then picking Eva up from dance and finally getting home for the night. It was a day all around.
