Photo-A-Day #4092

The other day I opened a bunch of Star Wars Hot Wheels vehicles. I also said that I needed to curb my collecting of Hot Wheels vehicles. So I took six of the vehicles in my grab bag of Hot Wheels to donate to the Christmas is For Kids toy drive this December. I hope to make this one of the biggest donations yet.

I also found a Voltron Funko Pop figure at Newbury comics the other day. I wish that I had had it when I met with the people who created the new Voltron cartoon for Netflix. It would have been cool to bring it with me. I would have liked to get some photos while at DreamWorks Animation Studios.

When I was there I saw some good things, like some posters for How to Train Your Dragon 3. That will be amazing. However, before that Netflix has a whole new season of Dragons: Race to the Edge. The third season looks to be more high stakes and dangerous, but there are many cool new dragons. After the video I have some clips for the new season and many images., too.

How to Pull Off The Netflix Sneak #StreamTeam

How to Pull Off the Netflix Sneak

I’ve been a Netflix #StreamTeam member for a while now and I have watched my fair share of Netflix. Most of the time I watch shows with my kids on our TV upstairs or on our TV downstairs. The upstairs TV was given to me by the Netflix #StreamTeam and it is a wireless enabled ROKU TV that has Netflix right on the remote. This makes it super simple for Andrew or Eva to pick a show and watch. We’ve been streaming so much Voltron lately. Eva loves it and is so amazed when I tell her that I met Shiro and Hunk, or at least their voice actors Josh Keaton and Tyler Labine. Despite all the great fun I have watching shows with the kids (half my personal Netflix account shows kids shows) I still love the shows for adults and sometimes I need to sneak off to watch them. What is a netflix sneak, you ask? I’m sure I don’t have to tell you, you’ve probably done many of these things yourself.

The Netflix Sneak

My most recent Netflix Sneak was to watch the entire season of Orange is the New Black Season 4 over the weekend. I stick one earbud in my ear, put my headset on for phone calls and lay my phone flat on my desk above my keyboard. So I can still do work and when I tilt my eyes down I can watch the show. I also get an hour break and in that time I take my Samsung Gear VR and over the ear headphones off to a room filled with chairs and rack out while I watch episodes on the Oculus for Samsung VR Netflix app. Season 4 was very good, dark and depressing overall. It certainly does not end on the high note of season three. Some of the flashbacks were so heartbreaking, too. But the acting and the storytelling are very strong.

Netflix did a study and found out that more than half of the viewers of OINTB have rewatched previous seasons. To me, that’s a sign of a good show, high re-watchability.

Orange is the New Black Season 4

Now that I’m finished with Orange is the New Black I can go to another binge worthy show, like Bloodline, Scandal or even Grey’s Anatomy. I haven’t watched any of those yet. But what I’m really looking forward to is Marco Polo Season 2. I discovered that show about six months ago and loved it so much. This season things are much more dangerous for Marco and Kublai Khan. Here is the Marco Polo trailer for season two which starts July 1, 2016.

You may not be a binger like me. You may watch a show and stop, you savor your time with your favorite Netflix shows. You are not alone and neither am I. Netflix actually analyzed more than 100 serialized TV series across more than 190 countries between October 2015 and May 2016. They noticed trends on how people watched certain shows, or genres of show. Here is what that research looks like graphically.

Here are some more shows that I’ll be sneaking in the near future.
