Today my niece was Baptized. She is now also my goddaughter. Shelby asked Allison and I to be the godparents at Christmas with a cute little framed photo and a handwritten note that asked that we be the godparents. I got misty eyed when I read the little note. I am so happy to be her godfather. Andrew and I were the only ones to make the service though. Eva has been sick for the past few days and she spiked a 103.3 fever on Saturday so Allison and Eva stayed home. I know that they both wanted to be there very much.
Andrew came along with me and my Dad. Dad drove because I had just come off my overnight shift and he wanted to make sure that I didn’t fall asleep on the way to the Church. I didn’t fall asleep on the way up but was pretty knocked out on the way home. The service was a wonderful one. The priest did an excellent job for the whole Mass and was very good with our family. He didn’t even mind when Andrew insisted on coming up and being held by me. My sister, Tara stood in for Allison.
Afterwards we went to a party at Shelby’s in-laws house. We had a nice time and Andrew played with his cousin, Dylan. It was a very nice event. Then we came home and I fell asleep in the car, Dad was driving. I never do that so I knew I was very tired or getting a bit run down. It was a little of both. Having Eva sick for so long plus my two overnight shifts put me right out for that night’s shift. I had to call in sick and with good reason because Eva was going to be staying home another day so that meant no sleep for me on Monday anyway which would put me even further behind.
