Ansel & Clair: Trilogy of Dinosaur Apps

Ansel & Clair Cretaceous Dinosaurs

Eva and I received download codes for three new Ansel & Clair adventures. This time the Virtoosian pair are back to learn all about dinosaurs from three different time periods: Cretaceous, Triassic and Jurassic. I have been a big fan of the Ansel & Clair series since the first app, Ansel & Clair’s Adventures in Africa. These apps bring kids and parents face to face with some amazing dinosaurs through animation, information, photos and fun puzzles. Here is a preview video of the Ansel & Clair Cretaceous Dinosaurs which was the only app out of the three that we were able to play because both the Jurassic and Triassic apps require iPad 2 or higher to run. I guess it is time for me to upgrade my iPad so I can thoroughly review future apps.

Review: Little Pim Portuguese Digital Download

Eva and I have reviewed a number of products from Little Pim. We’ve checked out DVDs, apps and now we’ve taken a look at a digital download. Specifically, a digital download of Little Pim Brazilian Portuguese. What I liked about this was that I could download the content and then add it to iTunes so that Eva and I could work with it on the iPad. We’ve got a ton of DVDs around the house but having the video right on the iPad was so much more convenient and takes up no space on the shelf. Here is a preview video below.

The video is 35 minutes long and there are a variety of episodes to choose from. We choose the eating and drinking episode because, to me that seemed like the most useful episode for us to work on. I don’t think I would have gone with Portuguese though if given the choice again because Eva is learning Spanish in school and while Portuguese is similar to Spanish, it is really not. Eva is learning Spanish in school and she really enjoys it. I know a little bit of Spanish from when I was in school and can talk to her a bit in that language. I could see her getting a bit confused as we watched the Portuguese video together.

Don’t get me wrong, the video was done very well like all of the Little Pim products that we have tried. Very high quality and the reinforcement of ideas and concepts with images and repetition was excellent. I just think that our brains were trying to fit Spanish into the Portuguese that we were hearing. I’d certainly recommend the Little Pim products like the apps and DVDs and digital downloads to introduce your children to a new language.

Disclosure: We received a digital download of Little Pim Brazilian Portuguese to watch and review. Opinions are 100% my own.
