Often I cut out those things that are less than perfect in my videos and blog posts. With my Stare Down the Wolf post and video I sort of tossed that out the window and so today’s video shows one of those life moments where things aren’t going so great.
I had to go home from the Cape today. I wanted to do something with the kids and there wasn’t much time to go and do a water balloon fight (which we are going to do next week, I have a ton of Bunch’O Balloons to use) and it was early to hit the beach. I decided that we head over to the playground near the library for a fun morning playing. The playground is great, it has a bunch of fun parts to it. For the most part the kids had fun and were awesome. Then I wanted to get some video on the swings. This became a problem. Andrew was so unhappy that his sister could swing so much higher than he could. She has learned how to swing well and she’s also 4 years older. He got very frustrated and started crying on the swings. Normally I’d stop filming but this time I just let it roll.
After some time at the Cape house I headed home through very light traffic. I’m glad I wasn’t going the other way because it was already backing up. When I got home there were three boxes waiting for me. One form Netflix, another from Speck and another from Playmates Toys. I open them all on the vlog.
Andrew and I spent the day together doing some outside activities. We walked over to Capron Park to play on the playground. He’s so fearless. He was playing on everything all over the playground. He is also so cute when he talks to other kids. He clearly wants to make friends. He’s very good about not putting hands on other kids but unfortunately that can’t be said about other kids. He came up to one little boy to talk to him and the boy immediately pushed him away. the boy was smaller than Andrew so he didn’t move him or anything so there wasn’t much to worry about but the rejection. Andrew shook it off and followed him around a little bit. He kept telling me that he was going to play with the baby (the kid had a pacifier). Eventually they played together a little.
Andrew was also a big fan of the swings. I taught him a bit about how to swing correctly by pumping his feet. We went on the swings a number of times and at the last time he was telling me that I should be pumping my legs like him.
After about an hour we walked home and played in the house a while. Then we took to the back yard to play out there. Kicking around the soccer ball and then I did some yardwork. It was pretty much a lot of pruning and cutting out dead branches and vines. Still have much more leaf raking to do as well.
Tonight after dinner the kids had fun blowing bubbles and chasing them all around the backyard. I had fun photographing them having that fun.
