Disney Vinylmation: Create Your Own

A new app from Disney, inspired by the short film, Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story has been released. This app lets you create your very own virtual Vinylmation character. You start with, what else, a blank character. You can choose from either a male or female character. You can then take that character and color them in according to your style and imagination or choose from some pre-made looks. Your Vinylmation figure can also get accessories and more.

Once you have created your Vinylmation character you can save the image to your device, either iOS or Android. You can read more about the app below. My daughter has played with it and she really enjoyed making all sorts of colorful characters. Continue reading App Alert: Disney Vinylmation: Create Your Own

Review: Frozen Blu-ray Combo Pack

Frozen on Blu-ray/DVDWe received a copy of Frozen on DVD/Blu-ray to watch and review. These are my impressions of the movie and specifically the Blu-ray/DVD.

Frozen came out on Blu-ray/DVD this past Tuesday and DVD players around the country blasted Let It Go along with kids and parents singing along. Well, that is what happened at our house. We’d already been watching the movie on Disney Movies Anywhere because I bought the movie the day it came out on Digital. Frozen is my daughter’s absolute favorite Disney movie and she knows all the songs because we bought the soundtrack as soon as that was available for download. Even my 2 1/2 year old son is a fan. He sings a tiny bit of Do You Want to Build a Snowman. He sings it and then points to us and demands that we clap, takes a bow and says thank you very much. Not sure where he got any of that but he is ready for the stage.

I was excited for the Blu-ray/DVD because of the extras. I love behind the scenes extras and while this was a little light for my taste there were some decent ones. The best special feature by far was D’frosted: Disney’s Journey From Hans Christian Andersen to Frozen. What I liked about it so much was that the tale of The Snow Queen was something that had been in development for a ride at Disney and there were so many pieces of art that the creators of Frozen were able to draw from. That was an amazing behind the scenes feature. I wish it had been longer and that there were more like that.

I really would have liked to have seen a Sing Along track added to the movie. There were sing along versions in the theater so why not the DVD. That would have been a great special feature.

If you haven’t seen Frozen I suggest that you buy some version of it because you will want to watch it over and over, it is highly entertaining. The songs are catchy and the message of true love is timeless. Below I have a few clips, some downloadable activities and even a short piece on the creators going to an ice castle that was Frozen themed. Enjoy. Continue reading Review: Frozen Blu-ray Combo Pack
