Photo-A-Day #3359
Tonight, after the longest time ever, Allison and I finally got to experience a Jimmy Buffett concert. A few month’s back I saw that the Mendon Drive-In was doing a simulcast of one of Jimmy’s Concerts which was being held at a Drive-In down in Texas. The show was going out to 87 Drive-Ins all over the US. I bought tickets and we invited one of my friends from work and her husband. To say that Allison and she hit it off would be an understatement. Maybe it was the Landshark, maybe it was the Bug Juice, or maybe the exchange of honeymoon horror stories, but there was a friendship connection made. We were really lucky to have such nice people to go with us to the event.
While I did enjoy the concert we were next to three chuckleheads from, of all places, Attleboro. They were in their early 20s and already a bit hammered when they arrived. They set up a game of ladders which our friend Stephanie played as their 4th. But, as the concert started there was a group of moms having a night out that connected with these guys and spent part of the time talking loudly at their car and then going over to those mom’s car. All in all they were just an annoyance. We can all remember being silly 20 year olds.
The Mendon Drive-In was fun. They have a great snack shack with decent prices. We were able to bring in our own food and seats. There were plenty of people around who had their radios on so we heard the concert perfectly. They had a beer garden and also Fireflys On The Go serving BBQ and other things. I got two Cheeseburgers in Paradise (one was for Allison) and they were delicious.
I think this was one concert where we had the quickest time in and quickest time out. I certainly hope that he does one of these again. We’ve got to take the kids to the Mendon Drive in some night this summer. I think they’d love it.
