Skylanders is my favorite video game series I have ever played. I’ve been a part of this crazy ride ever since the very first Skylanders game was released. I’ve played every part of the each of the games as well as the online game and all of the iOS games. I’ve collected every single character that has come down the pike.
I loved Spyro’s Adventure and then Giants game along. Giants broke new barriers and was an even better game. Then Swap Force came out and blew everything away. Each game gets better and better. The figures are incredible with the detail and I am amazed by each character having their own backstory.
Yesterday, Activision announced that the franchise has crossed the $2B revenue mark and sold enough figures (175 million) to span 8,000 miles! That’s enough for us to line them up end-to-end and stretch from Los Angeles to Melbourne!
In about a week I’ll be going to Toy Fair again and I have an appointment with Activision Publishing to check out the next Skylanders game and to also see what is in store for the rest of the Skylanders Swap Force. I’ll get to play with some of the remaining nine figures to be released. I counted today to see what was still unreleased. There are nine figures and that doesn’t include some of the other figures that I have heard of that will be released, special editions and such. I will get to see the special Easter figure and also see what that figure does in the game. I’m looking forward to that.
I also learned that Toys for Bob will be returning to create the next Skylanders game. Vicarious Visions did Skylanders Swap Force and Toys for Bob did Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders Giants. It will be interesting to see what is coming down the pike.
