My Last New York Slice
Photo-A-Day #4111

I said goodbye to Tim this morning as he headed off to his train and then his flight home. After that I went back to the room and hung out for a while. I tried to get a little more sleep but that didn’t quite happen. So I eventually got my stuff together, I was able to pack pretty much everything including a giant box that Adam Cohen got for me at Sweet Suite. I did not think that that would be coming home with me but it did.

It was somewhat warm when I started out on my trek back to Penn Station. It was a nice morning to walk along and I rigged up the bags so it was easy to walk with them. I try to walk as much as possible when in New York.

I had to get another slice of New York Pizza, which I did at the train station. Then it was time to get on the train.

The wifi was out so I did not get a chance to do much work on my laptop but I did turn on my hotspot in order to do some things on the laptop. I was distracted though. The guy behind me continued to hum the entire trip. It was so distracting.

The trip was mostly uneventful and I took the time to post a bunch of images to Instagram. However, when we got 10 minutes away from Providence we came to a complete stop. We sat there on the track for the next hour and a half. I was annoyed. I understand that there are delays. In this situation one of the lights was messed up telling us that we could not proceed. Then, once the light was fixed we still could not proceed. I had to blast my headphones so I didn’t snap on the the people on the train, not because of the issue with the train but because of the reaction of the other riders. You get the complainers, the experts and the Monday morning quarterbacks.

For me personally, I would have liked to have gotten home at 2:30 as expected. Maybe get to leisurely unpack the things from Blogger Bash and maybe even get a little rest before heading to work. Instead I was super keyed up and flew in, dumped out all my swag, got annoyed at the kids and flew back out the door where I would be in bad shape all night. We did, at least, stop for a few minutes and listen to another chapter of Harry Potter. But I would have rather been back home with 2 hours of time instead of getting home two hours late.

I was soehwat productive on the train. I redesigned my title images for Youtube. What do you think?

Blogger Bash 2016: The Final Voyage

The Intrepid

You never get any sleep at conferences. I was up last night trying to post my video and then maybe write up the blog post, but that did not happen. I was right up at 5am because I got selected to be a volunteer to help set up the New Products Expo. I walked around the expo asking people if they needed any help. Not many people took me up on it until I got to the Soleurs booth. Soleurs makes these amazing sunglasses. I helped them set up their entire booth and then did trash take out for other companies. The four hours of volunteer time went by quickly.

After volunteering I then got to go through the expo and meet with a bunch of companies before the Peanuts Lunch. I went through one of the floors visiting all the companies on that floor.

The Peanuts lunch was nice. I found a table and connected with a couple of Rhode Island bloggers who told me about a Rhode Island blogging group. I’d love to connect with that group because I’ve been looking for more local bloggers to do events with.

The luncheon was good but once it was over I was back up in the expo talking to more brands. There were quite a few booths in the expo and so many companies to see. I had a great time meeting with everyone.

I was loaded down with a ton of great swag and it was a warm day. I went and headed back to the hotel room so that I could drop off my bag of swag. I didn’t want to carry it with me through the rest of the day.

Once I returned from the hotel room I enjoyed the boat ride up the Hudson. It was fun hanging out with my friends and chatting about all sorts of things. I met some great people from a YouTube network. I wish I had met these people about three years ago when I made the mistake to join another network that doesn’t help me at all.

Once the boat was back, Tim and I walked back to the hotel and then caught a cab to see Stomp. I had won tickets to see the show and it was a great. We had an awesome time there. Before we caught a cab back to the hotel we stopped and got a slice of pizza. It was a great New York thing to do. Another late night so no time to write anything, but I did get the video out.
