Back in April I attended Monsters University on the Pixar Campus. It was an amazing couple of days meeting the movie’s director, producer and so many great people from Pixar. While I was at Pixar I screened the first 40 minutes of the movie. Later, when the movie came to theaters I took Eva and watched nearly the entire thing in a seat, the last 10 minutes or so is pretty intense and a bit scary for our little ones. Now, the movie is out to buy and we have a copy in our home. The whole family sat down to watch it and enjoyed it, up to the last 10 minutes where we sent the kids to bed and finished watching after they went to bed. Monsters University is a very good family film. You might want to watch it once through for the end stuff in case your children are prone to being frightened.

While on that Press Tour I was able to sit in on some fantastic informational sessions with Animators, Light Directors, Artists and even the director. The individual meetings were fascinating and I learned so much about the making of the movie from each of the session. I was thrilled to find out that the bonus disc that comes with the movie has a bunch of great behind the scenes shorts with many of those same people. I watched them with Eva and kept telling her, “I met that person”, “I was in that room”, “yes, they have a huge cereal bar”. The bonus features really bought back what it felt like to be on campus and learn about the movie making process. The featurettes were insightful and fun. They should not be missed.
