Photo-A-Day #2240
I sincerely value the time that I have at home during the week. Full days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Partial Days (meaning that I am unconscious part of these days) on Friday and Monday. Yeah, things are upside down right now, we’re in the midst of buying a house, expecting another baby and the transition of a new job. It is crazy but I’m actually a lot happier than I have been in a while.
Today was enjoyable. I was able to get some work done for a client this morning so I felt like I accomplished something. Allison watched Eva till she went to work and when Allison left Eva and I opened three LEGO sets that I bought back in 1998. These sets were the Arctic Expedition sets. I really liked how they looked and decided that I’d buy each set that came out. At this time I was buying LEGO sets directly from LEGO.com and bought nearly everything from the Star Wars line as well as these Arctic ones and some Mission to Mars ones. I’ve opened the Mission to Mars ones in the past I’ll have to pull those out another day.
Eva was great about working through the instructions with me. I would ask her for a specific piece and then she would give it to me and either she or I would put it into place. We put together the three sets and then I got my box of LEGO bricks that I’ve had since 1979. We played with those and made things and ended up playing for the whole two hours that Allison was at work. Whenever I would leave the room to check on something I could hear Eva making up little stories and playing with the pieces.
I really want to encourage her to play with these LEGO sets because they allow her to be very creative with her imagination. I figure that we could eventually make some LEGO sets up and play with them, then take some photos of them and we can write a story together. I think that Eva would like that. I know that I would.
I still need to get the hang of my sleep schedule on Friday. I try and go down for a nap at 1pm. Then I read a book for a page and see that my eyes close so I close the book right away and sleep. I generally have slept for an hour or two and then wake up fitfully for the next hour. I’d love to sleep a solid 3 hours at least but it is still not working for me yet.
new job? naps on Fridays? updates please!
Adrienne,
Yes, I now work Friday from 7p – 7am Saturday and Sunday till Monday 7am. I take a quick nap on Friday to get through the night and prepare myself for the overnight. It cuts down on anything I do on the weekends though but being able to take Eva to the Zoo on a Wednesday when the crowds are low is so worth it. This week we may go again and use the water pad if it is going to be hot.
Expecting another baby? I must have missed that announcement. Congrats! You guys make great babies, and Eva is going to be an awesome big sister!!
Anna,
I realized that I never formally announced it here on the blog. I posted it to facebook but not here. I’ll have to do a post here.
I have napped unintentionally every day this week…it’s ridiculous. However my tip to you, find the final episode of Oprah and you should be fast asleep within 10 minutes. I’ve tried a couple of times to watch it and can’t muster through!
On a serious note it’s AWESOME to know you are so happy:) Keep that up!!
Mo,
I didn’t watch the final episode. Allison did and that brought more tears than slumber. For me it is reading a book that helps me go to sleep. I don’t recommend playing Army of Darkness to fall asleep, I was up for hours playing that addictive game.
Congratulations! You’ll get the hang of the nap thing soon.
Deborah,
Thank you. I’m starting to get a hang of it little by little.
