Not Parent Approved – A Funny Way to Pass the Time Without Screens

Not Parent Approved

We received the game Not Parent Approved and the two expansion decks for free to play with and review. Opinions are our own.

We attended Sweet Suite this past July and while we were there we learned about the game Not Parent Approved. This is a fun game with hilarious possibilities. It is a fun one to take with you and play at a restaurant before the food arrives. I know that I am getting a wee bit tired of playing endless games of tic tac toe. I’d much rather play a game that gets everyone talking and laughing and having fun. With Not Parent Approved you get tons of conversation, laughter and even some moments of extreme silliness.

We’ve played the game a few times and we were happy to get not only the full game but expansion packs 1 and 2. The game is a perfect little stocking stuffer for your teens and tweens. It is for ages 8+ but we let Andrew play along with us. He’s 7 and is already reading really well and enjoying playing family games often. The game is also a good one for long car rides, this can also get the kids off the screens for a while. It is also a silly fun game to play after Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner with the whole family.

DESCRIPTION – Parents now have permission to let kids behave inappropriately with the hilarious family card game Not Parent Approved. While unexpected burps and farts can be considered bad manners, they do create laughter, hence the basis of this unconventional Family Night of fun. The 455 cards (105 questions and 350 answers) involve cultural references from Taylor Swift to wedgies. Best of all, it’s offline requiring no plugs, cords, earbuds or charging. Kids must look at each other and interact in conversation. Imagine that!

Expansion Packs

As the July 2018 The Toy Insider describes, “an additional 20 blue question cards and 60 red answer cards, meaning more options for frequent players to keep that element of surprise in the game.” Expansion Packs #1 and #2 each have 20 blue questions cards and 60 red answer cards. There’s also a blank expansion card deck so you can make your own cards!

When the kids are bored or you need to wait 20 minutes for a restaurant table, open up this card game and watch their eyes light up! It’s 100% family-friendly despite the awkward name. Two mompreneurs designed the card deck to reintroduce a love of tabletop games for a screen-obsessed generation. It is certainly attention-grabbing while quick, simple play for every tween, teen and college kid in the household.
