Worked from home today and then headed up to my supervisors house to travel down to CT. I have a demo tomorrow and glad for a quick overnight on the road. Things are really busy at home and we still have a ton more to do, it is nice to be able to take a little step back from the things that need doing. Although I do miss Allison and reading to the baby at night. I’ll be back tomorrow though.
On a trip a couple of months ago I forgot to bring a book with me to read to the baby so I searched for Children’s stories online and I found a very good one called Wolstencroft the Bear. This was a wonderful story for children and I’d love to have a copy bound in a real book. Both Allison and I liked the story very much. So far that was the best one out of all of them on that site.
I took another photo of the Sunflower that I’ve been following and this one looks like it has bloomed beautifully. It must have because there was one bee furiously collecting pollen and nectar from the flower. He wasn’t even bothered when I took the shot for Photo-A-Day. Here is another shot of the sunflower.
The ride down to CT. was a good one, light traffic and good conversation. We arrived around 4:30-5:00. I signed onto the web and had an e-mail in my inbox from Mark Eccleston of The Green Fingered Photographer. Mark is selling a 2008 Calendar of some of his amazing photography through Lulu.com. He totally gave me a great idea that I may run with. I purchased one of his calendars because Mark is a fantastic photographer and has been a fixture on my Green Thumb Sunday and Photo Hunt posts. If you would like to get one of these calendars for yourself (Mine cost $16.17 with shipping) click on any of the links to Mark’s Calendar and see for yourself the amazing shots that Mark has taken.
Tonight we had dinner at a place called Bennett’s, as expected the food was awesome. How can you go wrong with a name like Bennett’s. I had pistachio crusted Red Snapper. Delicious.
Contest Update: Well first an update on the contests that I was in. No Roomba for BenSpark, wasn’t even close to the top 5. I had 17 votes. This was the easiest one to vote for too. Oh well. Roomba was not meant to be. In the Super Bowl Contest I am in 4th place, which there is no prize for 4th. I did a large media blitz on that one, I guess I came on too strong. I appreciate everyone from this blog who took the time to vote for me in both contests. There are still a few more days of voting in the Super Bowl one and I’d like to at least be in the top three. If you’d like to help get me there then just FuelMyBlog.
Contest Participants: Earn 5 points a day for fueling for my blog.
BenSpark’s August Add it Up Contest Update: Looks like we have ourselves a match people. With a slim margin of 5 points Lisa is first and is ahead of Mo and Christine is in 3rd place. Mo wrote a fun post about me being in the Super Bowl contest. Pay her a visit and leave her a comment (5 points). Many of the big point winners are still available like writing a post about the contest. Being a PAD host (that also gets you a permanent link on the sidebar here.) Writing about the Super Bowl contest and encouraging people to vote for me gets you 100 points. Today Also started the Add it Up Contest – Photo Contest that was suggested by Lisa. There were three entrants, they each received 25 points and the top photo (as determined by the comments on that post) will receive and additional 25 points.) Scott blogged about one of my photos, I think it was Mo’s favorite one too. He titled it Peek-A-Boo, I See You. Scott also sent me an invite to Vazaar. It is a photo site that is in beta and is invite only for now. I should get some photos submitted.
What I really need to do is make a file that has answers to all the questions that each new website I subscribe to asks, I should have a pre-written profile, list of hobbies and music and movie. All things that I constantly leave blank. I think that would help me make more social connections and attract more people to the blog. I’ve also got to write my tech Tuesday post for FuelMyBlog because I am going to be busy tomorrow. I just can’t think of a topic though.
Another bee picture. I could never take these. I am deathly afraid of bees.
I can’t help it, the bees are frolicking in my front yard and I find them so interesting to photograph.
nice pic…
Thanks rus.
being from Conn, it surprises me that there was little traffic. to me it is a 24 hour a day nightmare down there. it is pretty difficult to get me to go down to visit. but i’m glad your ride was safe.
a trick for the spam thing: let the page finish loading and THEN post comment and the secret word
two votes: here and at tech tues one
hope it’s warmer too: my furnace has been on for three damn days! 38°, 36° and getting colder by the day
I used to work in CT. and the traffic was a nightmare. So I was surprised as well. So with the spam filter I guess the lesson is patience. Thanks for the fuel votes. It should warm up later this week.
today’s picture is awesome!! i love that it incorporates 2 of your recent subjects…the sunflower and the bees. nice!
i hope you have a safe trip home!
Somehow you managed to take the picture with out disturbing that bee. 🙂
Another cool one 🙂 You know I love the flowers!
i love flowers too. great picture!
Drew, nice pic! Props to the bee-bravery 🙂
Lisa, I’m scared/allergic to bees too… so its fun to view pics of stuff I wont be viewing myself.
Thanks Mo. I was happy to see the Sunflower getting some bee attention.
Hi Veerasundar, Welcome to my blog and thanks for commenting. Yeah that bee was going to town and too busy to even pay me the slightest bit of attention. No way I was going to deter him from his task.
Thanks Laurie, I am on a flower kick and even today’s post is going to have three flower photos I just can’t help myself.
Interesse, Welcome to my blog and thanks for the comment. I am glad you are enjoying my flower photos, come back today for the post because there are going to be three more flower photos.
Thanks Joe,
I’ve never had an allergy to Bees or fear of them, I enjoy watching them do their work. So I am happy to brave the stingers for some action shots for your viewing pleasure.
Very cool photo. How long did you have to wait for the bee to perch? They are not very cooperative. 😛
As luck would have it the bee was there and so busy it didn’t fly away even while I got up close and personal with it.
