Going back to work after a 4 day weekend always makes it tougher to get back into the swing of things. However I have a big demo on Friday and 3 in a row next week so I got right on the ball today. It actually made things fly by as I worked really hard on the demonstration. It is a sort of new one based on an old one so there are just a few things to relearn but I also have to make sure I hit all the new points.
In keeping with my play on light this month I went back to the Christmas lights and took a photo of a snow globe under Eva’s tree. Our tree was taken down last night because it was very, very dry and I didn’t want it in the house any longer, just in case. My parent’s tree is still doing well and will be left up till “Little Christmas”. We celebrate a little Christmas each year and my sister’s love it. Another nice tradition for Eva. We still have two unopened gifts for her because she got fussy Christmas morning and we never went back to open them.
But I digress… I usually do. I liked how the snow globe looked under the tree. I tried many different ISO settings and to get a sharp focus without using a flash. I didn’t use a tripod but steadied the camera on some book. I need a remote control for the camera and a better tripod. I think I need to get my wish list in order. Because I was moving the camera a bit I did get this interesting one.
Well, I must get back to watching another episode of Smallville with Allison and teaching my mom about YouTube. You might have also noticed that I started using EntreCard on the left sidebar. I may move it up as it has been a decent way to increase traffic. The stats aren’t all in yet but soon I will be doing a review on it.
Oh my goodness! I also have the worst trouble with low lighting situations such as what you were dealing with today. I really like the shapes you made in the second photograph, but he first one has a dream like quality about it, that suits the snowglobe.
I did a really hard photo using similar lighting and it turned out great only when I had a lamp pointed toward the ceiling (which is white) and the light bounced off of it and down towards the marble that I was shooting. It took me over 50 tries to get it just right.
I’m blabbin! Good day! 🙂
Hey chica,
You are very very committed to your photography and that is awesome. I have to say I was a bit inspired by your first photo on your photoblog. It was something I wanted to recreate some how using the Christmas lights, that is where Photo #2 came from.
