A Teachable Moment Kicked in the Face

My Zootopia Welcome Package
Photo-A-Day #3969

There are those moments in life that are Teachable Moments. In my life lately they have been moments where my kids have done the teaching. I have two really great kids and it isn’t because they are smart or athletic or any of those things. They are kind. So much so that it sometimes rubs off on this old curmudgeon. I’m a grump and a bit of a cynic. There have been times when the kindness of my kids has taken me out of my own little world long enough to look around. Tonight I sort of did that and that sort of backfired.

I describe the overall incident in the vlog but basically we went into Boston to see Zootopia tonight. I can’t say any more until March 4th. Before the movie Eva needed to use the bathroom and so I dropped she and Allison off at the Boston Common and they went to McDonald’s. Then Andrew and I parked and walked over to have dinner. While we were in line I ended up buying a breakfast for a homeless woman. And as we left the restaurant Eva and Andrew learned a couple of swears as that same woman yelled at her companion… loudly. So, next time it is popcorn for dinner when we hit the city for a press screening. It costs about the same anyway.

Do you like the image today, that is of a special welcome pack from the city of Zootopia. It included my very own Driver License and a copy of the Gazelle song ‘Try Everything’. I was hoping that there would be a stand up or something so that I could get a fun Zootopia photo for my upcoming review but there was not. Oh well. More in today’s vlog

Jokers For The 40 Year Old Boy

Photo-A-Day #3341

For a few weeks I’ve been posting tweets attempting to get the attention of Chris Hardwick and his Nerdist Podcast. I really would love to see Mike Schmidt as a guest on the show. Two years ago I went to Mike’s one man show, Success is not an Option, and had a great time. I also went to dinner with Mike the night before and that was a great time. Mike spent a few minutes during the show ripping me apart because I ate all of the Avocado from a salad that we were sharing at dinner the night before. Mike likes to order a bunch of things and share them with the table.

So, on June 1st I tend to wear a 40 Year Old Boy T-shirt and think of how else I can promote Mike and his podcast because I think he’d be a great guest on The Nerdist. Hopefully someone will see my posts, photos and tweets.
