Unboxing Skylanders SuperChargers McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys

Skylanders SuperChargers McDonalds Happy Meal Toys
Photo-A-Day #4088

Activision sent me a set of the new Skylanders SuperChargers Happy Meal Toys to unbox and show you. I had already gotten Spitfire and Hot Streak back a few days ago. Andrew and I went to McDonald’s to play and also to tire him out and since it was the start of the Skylanders SuperChargers promotion I made sure to get myself a Happy Meal as well.

This time around there are six toys to collect. The characters are Spitfire, Shark Shooter Terrafin, Hurricane Jet-vac, Nightfall, Deep Dive Gill Grunt and Bone Bash Roller Brawl in their respective vehicles. These toys also come with stickers to attach to the toys. The stickers also have character stickers and each character comes with a Spitfire Skylanders Battle Casters Card that you can use to scan and see in 3D. They also have little McDonald’s medallions that can be used in the McDonald’s app.

Here is my unboxing or rather unbagging of the toys.

Boom Boom Donut Day

Donut Meditation
Photo-A-Day #4069

After last night’s trip to see Cirque du Soleil – TORUK I had much to catch up on. I had that post and video to go up and also a post about a Twitter Party for the Ring Video Doorbell that I’ll be a host on next week. And then later on I posted about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Oven that the kids and I reviewed. So, at least online I was pretty busy. The day itself was a little less busy. We skipped drop in play group and opted for me cleaning a book shelf in the living room. I organized all the games and books on the shelves and that inspired Andrew to want to play Boom Boom Balloon. It is a fun game and we have it on the video today.

In the afternoon we went and got haircuts. We saw my sister at the salon and she went and paid it forward and took care of our cuts. That was so nice of her. Andrew was very good at the salon. He played on the Samsung Kids tablet and then sat very well for his cut. We saw one of the kid’s babysitters there and she was getting a cut and colored some of her hair blue. I don’t think Andrew was a fan of that because when they asked him about it I hear our hairdresser say that he had no poker face. She’s right, he doesn’t.

We then ran to Target to get a birthday gift for the party tonight. And then to McDonald’s where Andrew played in the play place for close to an hour. I was hoping that I could get him to sleep a bit before the party but that didn’t happen. He faked me out when we pulled in to pick up Eva from school.

I brought the kids home and got ready for work. Then it was off to the birthday party. I dropped them at Monkey Joe’s and then grabbed a dozen donuts for National Donut day and headed to work.

What Would you do? McDonald’s Edition.

Today’s vlog didn’t really fit with today’s photo of the day so I made it separate. I was at McDonald’s with Andrew and observed the children playing. It was raining so the place was packed. To me, you should be watching your kid. I am pretty sure that even though I was playing Contest of Champions on my phone I was doing way better at the keeping tabs on Andrew than most parents there. So I tell a story about what happened in today’s video. Then I ask the question? What would you have done in my place?

Also in the video I give a preview of some toys that I’ll be reviewing soon.

A Teachable Moment Kicked in the Face

My Zootopia Welcome Package
Photo-A-Day #3969

There are those moments in life that are Teachable Moments. In my life lately they have been moments where my kids have done the teaching. I have two really great kids and it isn’t because they are smart or athletic or any of those things. They are kind. So much so that it sometimes rubs off on this old curmudgeon. I’m a grump and a bit of a cynic. There have been times when the kindness of my kids has taken me out of my own little world long enough to look around. Tonight I sort of did that and that sort of backfired.

I describe the overall incident in the vlog but basically we went into Boston to see Zootopia tonight. I can’t say any more until March 4th. Before the movie Eva needed to use the bathroom and so I dropped she and Allison off at the Boston Common and they went to McDonald’s. Then Andrew and I parked and walked over to have dinner. While we were in line I ended up buying a breakfast for a homeless woman. And as we left the restaurant Eva and Andrew learned a couple of swears as that same woman yelled at her companion… loudly. So, next time it is popcorn for dinner when we hit the city for a press screening. It costs about the same anyway.

Do you like the image today, that is of a special welcome pack from the city of Zootopia. It included my very own Driver License and a copy of the Gazelle song ‘Try Everything’. I was hoping that there would be a stand up or something so that I could get a fun Zootopia photo for my upcoming review but there was not. Oh well. More in today’s vlog

Spinning Top – Daily Vlog

Spinning Top - Daily Vlog
Photo-A-Day #3939

Today was all about play groups, playgrounds, a Spinning Top and Operation Naptime. Despite it being Friday it was a good day. You might be saying to yourself, what is so bad about Friday? It is the start of the weekend. Well, for most people that is cause to celebrate. For me it is cause to completely flip myself upside down to sleep in the day and stay awake for the night. Many Fridays I have attempted to get Andrew to sleep. You might remember just last week where I had an awful time getting a nap out of Andrew. Well, today was pretty successful in terms of getting Andrew to nap and also for me to have some sleep time. He slept for 2 hours and I slept for an hour and a half. It isn’t ideal in the grand scheme of things but it was enough to maybe keep me from passing out around 4am into my keyboard.

STEM and Girl Meets World – Daily Vlog

At Martin Luther King Jr. Tea

Eva’s school had a Martin Luther King Jr. Tea today. It was open for parents to attend. I took Andrew with me because there is nowhere else to bring him, but for the most part he was good, except he did go and grab a couple of plates of cookies. Eva did a great job with songs and her line in the skit. It was a cute event. Could have been in a bigger space but it worked out overall.

After the event Andrew and I went over to Target to pick up a few things and then we were leaving to go get lunch and he told me that he needed a bathroom. So, I swung into Toys R Us because that had the closest bathroom. We walked around for a while and then headed to lunch. We did lunch at McDonald’s and then headed home where he took a nice long Friday nap. I managed to actually close my eyes for 15 minutes. Much better than last week.

When Allison and Eva came home we watched Girl Meets World: Girl Meets STEM. The episode was about girls and Science. It was very well done. I enjoy that show so much.

Trap Team Starter Pack Skylanders McDonald’s Style

Photo-A-Day #3693

I received this year’s Skylanders toys from McDonald’s. They are in the Happy Meal for a little while longer. This time there are six of them and I did post about this already but wanted to take some better photos. My initial images weren’t that great so below I have some much better ones. Six New Skylanders Toys at McDonald’s Starting Today!

McDonald's Happy Meal Skylanders

Once again McDonald’s and Skylanders are working together to bring toys to the Happy Meal. This year the roster is a bit smaller than previous years with six new toys instead of nine that were released last year. I actually like that there are less, it is easier for people to collect them all. I did not have to co collect them because Activision sent them to me. What follows is my impressions of each figure.

Snapshot – Snapshot has his bow and arrow/sword traptanium weapon. The arrow snaps into place and with a little pressure it can be fired at the villains. Decent paint application and scaly crocodile skin.

Painyata – Nice to have a villain in the mix. Painyata is one of the most colorful and funny villains in the series. You can push his back and he slams down his lollipop.

Wildfire – The golden lion has his giant traptanium shield. You can wind it up and push a button to have the shield roll off toward enemies. You can also pose his left arm a bit.

Food Fight – This character comes complete with his tomato launcher. There is a disc that you put into the launcher. The disc has two sides one with a full tomato and the other with a smashed one. The disc does not fit firmly into the launcher so you need to hold it steady to launch it.

Wolfang – This character is on his knees and as you roll him he swings his arm like he’s doing the windmill with his guitar.

Wallop – This is probably my favorite figure of the bunch. Great paint applications and the way the pieces are put together. It looks great! There is a button on the back that swings his great mallets.

Skylanders Swap Force Happy Meals

Photo-A-Day #3275

I received a box of fun McDonald’s Skylanders Swap Force Toys. There are 8 new toys from Skylanders Swap Force which includes characters like: Free Ranger, Wash Buckler, Rattle Shake, Magna Charge and Freeze Blade, Eruptor, Prism Break and a Chompie. They are pretty fun looking characters and they each have a little gimmick.

The program will be running from March 28 to April 24th. Also inside each package is a coupon for $10 off the Skylanders SWAP Force Starter Pack and $1 off a Skylanders character.

Eruptor and Prism Break both light up. Free Ranger spins like a top. Wash Buckler moves in a crazy way. The Chompie opens and closes its mouth and Rattle Shake, Freeze Blade and Magna charge have projectiles that fly out when you push on them, they are not spring loaded but rather fly when kids push on the end of the projectiles.

My favorite of the set is Rattle Shake. He looks great and even has a flying snake projectile.

Skylanders Toys coming to McDonalds Happy Meals April 12 – May 2

Skylanders Happy Meal Box 2

I looks like I’m going to be scouring the local McDonalds stores to make sure I collect all nine of the new Skylanders toys that will be appearing in Happy Meals from April 12- May 2. This is the first-ever partnership between McDonald’s and Activision. The Figures that will be part of this promotion are Spyro, Gill Grunt, Drobot, Chop Chop, Ignitor, Jet-Vac, Tree Rex, Crusher and Kaos. And for the first time ever the figures will have dexterity in their limbs. Some possibility. While they are not playable in the game at all they are fun toys to have and to collect for any portal master. They can be purchased as part of the Skylanders themed Happy Meals or if kids aren’t hungry, Portal Masters of all sizes can head over to their local McD’s and pick up soon-to-be hottest toys around for just $1!
