Today was Eva’s annual Winter Dance recital and fundraiser at one of the local school. Each of the classes do a little routine to Christmas music and it is a lot of fun. It is an hour long and afterwards they do a raffle. I was there for the show and then headed home to get some sleep. This has been a poor sleeping weekend. Luckily it is the last weekend of work before a weekend off. I’m looking forward to not being at work for a little bit.
Yesterday I picked up new phones for Allison and I. She has upgraded to the iPhone 8 Plus and I did the Google Pixel 2 XL. They are great new phones. However, I need to spend more time with mine because I thought that I took a video of Eva’s dance but I only turned on the video camera. I totally messed up the video. However, the camera will take motion pictures which means that it takes a picture and also takes a short video before and after so it is only a second or so. I haven’t figured out how to share it correctly yet.

Today was Eva’s dance recital. She was in two numbers in the recital. I heard that she was excellent. I heard that she had a great time with hip hop. She even got out and did a cypher (when you dance while everyone else is in a circle around you). That took some work for her to have the courage to do that.
I keep saying “I heard” because I slept right through the numbers that she did in the recital. I set multiple alarms and then Allison texted me five times and I still heard nothing. I even missed a phone call. Finally I woke up when my sister came to the house and woke me. I got there in time for the finale. Eva doesn’t know that I wasn’t there. I am torn about telling her. I feel awful about it.

Today was Eva’s Dance Recital. It was an excellent program. We thought for some reason that the show was at 2pm. That would have been pretty good for me to get some sleep but it was actually at 1pm. So I got home early, slept from 8am – 9:30am and when I awoke I thought that I had slept an entire day. I couldn’t get back to sleep until about 10:30am and was woken by Allison at 12pm. I took a shower and headed over to the recital.
Eva did an excellent job in her two programs. She takes both Ballet and Hip Hop. She looked equally happy performing both dance routines. She is so graceful as she does ballet and exudes a joyful attitude when she does her hip hop routines. I have a few photos from the day which also included the family celebrating birthdays at House of Fortune.

Today Eva had a dance show for her dance studio, Dance Productions. For the past few years the school does a special Winter Dance Show which is also a fundraiser for the school. We got there early and got our seats to watch the show. Mom and Dad caught up with us and so did out friends Holly and Noah. My ability to pick the worst seat in the house still stands. There was a family behind us that was so irritating. Completely oblivious to us in from of them. The kids kicking the seats and the dad and mom doing pretty much nothing about it. I kept it together and didn’t lose it on them even after getting 1/2 of sleep in the past 24+ hour period. That is impressive.
But the show wasn’t about the rude people behind us, it was about the kids and their love for dance. Eva looked a little nervous with Hip Hop but she was shining with a big smile during her ballet number. She truly loves ballet and it shows. She also enjoys Hip Hop but isn’t as confident with it. It was nice to attend and then Dad took me home so I could get some sleep. So I finally did get a little sleep in before work.

Today was Eva’s dance recital. She did such an amazing job. You could see the concentration on her face but also the joy of dancing. She was in ballet this year. We made a budgetary decision for one class only and that is what she choose. I think she was pretty happy with that decision.
Andrew was a little imp. He had been asleep at the start of the recital and then woke up and was groggy for a while. when he came around he wasn’t that interested in watching except for The Boogie Woogie Bugle boy number. He was dancing to that, it was hilarious.
Mom, Dad, Tara and Uncle Mike came for the show. Eva was happy to see everyone and Mike took a family photo of us.

Today was one of those milestone days that comes along only once when you’re a parent of a little girl. The first dance recital.

Today Eva had her first ever Dance Recital Dress Rehearsal. I was unable to go because I had to work but before Allison and Eva left I shot a bunch of photos of Eva in her finale T-Shirt. She danced around the front yard as I snapped and snapped photos. She was so excited to go to dress rehearsal. I think a lot of it had to do with seeing her cousin, having a lunchable as a treat and getting to wear makeup. I would have liked to have seen her doing her dances but that is what tomorrow night is for.
