M&M’s have a new flavor. They now have Caramel M&M’s and they are really good. They are also a little weird. They are like crunchy Rolos. The caramel on the inside is very much like the caramel in a Rolo and then you find that you have the crunchy candy shell mixed in with the chewy caramel. It is a weird mouth feel but the taste is very good.

Meal preparation is one of the things that I do while Allison is at work. Sometimes I like to surprise the family with a tasty dessert. I’m always looking for new ideas and coming up with some of my own. Is there anything more delicious than a big dollop of Cool Whip on a piece of pie? I am going to say yes, yes there is. I’ve created two desserts with the same ingredients and they were both big hits with the family. At least one of the desserts will become something I will serve again. Actually, this coming weekend I will be serving it to the folks I work with. We’re doing a Pie Party Pot Luck over the course of the weekend. I will be introducing everyone to the Sweet Potato in the Pumpkin Patch Parfait, right after I tell you all about it in the video and recipe below.

We celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day in our usual way with a fresh made Irish Soda Bread and Corned Beef and Cabbage. This year we had our friends over for dinner. Eva and I made placemats for everyone, with help from Allison’s cutting skills. We also made a Leprechaun Trap. For a snack we put together some Lucky Chick Mix. This is a combination of a bunch of snacks. The combination is made up of M&Ms, Peanuts, Honey Roasted Sesame Seed Sticks, Teddy Grahams, Pretzels and Lucky Charms. Take all of it and melt in some candy chips to put everything together.

We had a great evening and so much fun together.
Tonight Allison and I got to go out for a special dinner at Not Your Average Joe’s. I was asked to come and try out the new seasonal menu. Lucky for me, Allison could come along as well. We had some fantastic food while we were there and we were quite stuffed when we left.

We went to a Fisher Cats game today. One of the guys at work organized the game. He’s also a fellow Saint A’s alum from my class. He took care of getting the group tickets for us.
The game was fun, unfortunately the Fisher Cats lost but we still had a nice time. Eva loved it. She was dancing, talking to the other kids around us and just loving her time at the ballpark. We played games and went to get snacks and also a fun souvenir. Eva picked a colorful baseball to bring home. She played with it while at the park and wants to take it everywhere, too.
On the way home from the game we stopped at my sister Shelby’s house. We had a nice dinner with Shelby and Tim. Andrew loved playing with Auntie Shelby and Eva was very cute. We had dinner and then Eva asked, “So, do you guys have dessert sometimes?” She’s so subtle.

Allison and Eva made dessert for Easter tomorrow. They made a delicious looking Strawberry, Angel Food Cake and Vanilla Ice Cream dessert. It is a Weight Watcher’s recipe called a Frozen Strawberry Layer Cake. Allison wanted Eva to be able to help slice the strawberries so she used an egg slicer. The problem was that strawberries are much harder than boiled eggs and the egg slicer cut a few of the strawberries and then the strings broke, one by one. Eva thought it was hilarious and she was giggling like crazy. I love it when we involve her in food preparation. Take a look of this collection of additional strawberry dessert preparation photos.
