Unboxing Marvel Collector Corps X-Men Box

X-Men Wolverine Motorcycle
Photo-A-Day #4272

My latest Marvel Collector Corps Box arrived today. The theme of this one was X-Men. I am really happy with the contents of the box. Inside was a Storm Patch, Magneto’s Helmet for a Pin and a Tshirt of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. On top of that was a comic book, Champions #1, a Rock Candy figure of Mystique and a Pop Rides which was Wolverine’s Motorcycle. That was the coolest thing in the box. I love Wolverine and him on a motorcycle with his claws out on one hand is epic. The Mystique figure is also good but Wolverine is the best.

A quiet day with Andrew today, I actually got to play some video games. I played LEGO Dimensions for a while in the Simpsons level and it was a lot of fun. I found all sorts of hidden areas in the level, too.

Speaking of LEGO, I went to film SteamDads with my friend Brian tonight. We filmed the episode that will post on Wednesday. This is going to be a fun one. After that we filmed an episode of Brian’s Built from Bricks show. Last week he guested on my show and this week I guested on his. We did a holiday themed episode with a fun set of LEGO pieces that he modified to be quite festive.

I picked up Andrew after school today and we headed over to my parents house. He now enjoys climbing ladders as you can see. I also had no fear at 5 years old. But back to the reason I was at my parent’s house in the first place. I was going there to help out with their new Comcast X1 Xfinity boxes and router and more. I set up a couple of their TVs and also the Router. The downstairs TV took some doing because it was just old enough that it doesn’t have a dedicated HDMI plug. It did have a DVI plug and so yesterday I went and got a DVI to HDMI adapter and thought I was all set but was wrong. The DVI to HDMI plug only does video and not audio. Getting Audio and video was through some old AV plugs and the picture was not good. So I saw the optical audio plugs and thought that a wire for that would work. Unfortunately, both the DVR and TV had outputs. Eventually I got HD video and sound by playing around with the plugs and trial and error. That is usually how I fix things.

Tonight I went to my buddy Brian’s house to record SteamDads. We tried an experiment and it did not work. So we did a couple of other things instead. They ended up working out pretty cool but our video is going to be an interesting one and we are staying away from chemicals for a while.

I made today’s video late at night before bed. I’ve got a ton of toy reviews to finish up before Christmas. I’m just getting many thing sent to me, which is not a bad thing. However, I’ve gotten a bit behind. All the toys in the video will need reviews by the end of next week. That way people have enough time to go and buy the ones that they like the most.

I’m also doing a giveaway of the Gremlins Team Pack. Here is how to enter.

Review – K’NEX KForce Build and Blast K-25X Rotoshot Blaster

KNEX K-25X Rotoshot Blaster
Photo-A-Day #4252

I review a K’NEX Build and Blast K-25X Rotoshot Blaster. This was sent to me for free to review. Opinions are 100% my own.

I’ve had this toy for a while and had been waiting for a day where I could assemble it on my own without interruption from the kids. Eva could build it but Andrew isn’t old enough to do it yet. So without them around I could build quickly without one of the kids waiting to play with it. My build took a little over a half hour. I like the way that the K’NEX pieces fit together, they are nice and sturdy. I was unsure as to how this blaster would feel in my hands but it had a good feel. The pre-load ring was in a strange place in my opinions. I would have liked to have it all the way in the back for quicker loading and shooting. It felt a little awkward to load the darts.

Despite the pre-loading issue the blaster could shoot pretty far. the mechanism for shooting is self contained and you can pop that into many different configurations. There are 3 alternative builds which can be found at www.knex.com/instructions and enter the code 47011. The fourth is to create a target. I like the target because when you hit it it will swing back and forth. That way you know that you really hit it.

The more I play with the K’NEX pieces the more I enjoy them, there are some fun projects that you can do with them and when I have a moment to spend with Eva we will build something together. For now, check me out solo building the K-25X Rotoshot Blaster.

Here is the official description of the blaster.

Build a customizable blaster with rotating, 5-shot action! The new RotoChamber allows you to fire up to 5 darts without reloading. Each dart fires up to 75 feet. Set includes K’NEX rods and connectors plus special parts to create different blasters: 1 RotoChamber plus 1 quick fit grip and 1 pre-load ring in cool see-through blue! Build and rebuild by downloading instructions for 4 additional blasters and targets. Most models can be built one at a time. Compatible with the entire K-FORCE Build and Blastâ„¢ line. Ages 8+.
