App Alert: PEG + CAT The Tree Problem

PEG+ CAT the Tree Problem App Image

We were given a download code to check out the new PEG + CAT App from PBS called The Tree Problem. Opinions are my own.

I dowloaded the PEG + CAT The Tree Problem App to our iPad Air for Andrew to use. Andrew is three years old and he loves counting. He counts all sorts of things. We drive by a car dealership he counts the balloons. He counts the people in the car and anything else you can think of. So, to encourage his enjoyment of numbers and counting I let him use this app and he had a fun time.

The app is pretty simple in execution. CAT has gotten himself stuck in a tree and PEG is down on the ground. Your job is to get CAT to PEG a variety of ways. There are six locations where CAT has gotten stuck and each location has a different way to get CAT down. Your child may have to decide which combination of four differently sized boxes will help CAT get down. In another scenario you may have to water flowers until they grow to the appropriate height and in still another you have to move around snowballs so CAT can get down. The locations are from places that we have seen in the show and they have the same drawn style and humor from the show. We were impressed with the app and it is something that Andrew will play again and again.

App Alert: Tiggly Counts

Packaging_Tiggly Counts

We are big fans of Tiggly Shapes in our house. When I received those to review Andrew was on the younger side of two years old. We played with the shapes for a half an hour and it was amazing. Andrew was able to identify and say the name of each shape, he was also able to point out the correct color of each shape and he selected the correct shape when asked during game play. He started slowly but picked it up so quickly. Now Tiggly has a new product called Tiggly Counts and it si the first 1Pad compatible physical math toy for children. I can’t wait to see what Andrew does with this one.

And, just for readers of this blog Tiggly is also offering a special 30 percent off code on pre-orders of Tiggly Counts. Starting October 7th through October 31, your readers can save by entering PREORDER30 at checkout on Tiggly.com/counts.
