Captain America: Civil War Begins Production

Hot on the heels of a tremendous opening for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron there is news that production has begun for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. I’ve been reading the whole marvel saga of 97 or so comics where Civil War takes place. It was a good storyline and I am wondering what will happen in the movie. Will we see things play out like they did in the comic. There are so many major events that happen in this overarching storyline and some that change the Marvel Universe dramatically. I’m wondering if a very specific thing happens. Also, I wonder what role Martin Freeman will play in this movie. Will he be a good guy or bad guy. Will he be super powered? Also, there looks like no casting yet for Spider-Man and he has a big role in the story, too.

MARVEL STUDIOS BEGINS PRODUCTION ON MARVEL’S “CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR”

Principal Photography Begins in Atlanta
For May 6, 2016 Release

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (May 7, 2015) – Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on “Captain America: Civil War,” the third installment of its Super Hero franchise. The production will shoot on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.

Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Community”) from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The Winter Solider,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”). The film returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr. (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 3”) as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as The Vision, Jeremy Renner (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “The Avengers”) as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Godzilla”) as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

After his debut in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man,” ”Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”) will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.”

The film also includes outstanding additional cast, including Chadwick Boseman (“42,” “Get on Up”) as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Revenge”) as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Bourne Ultimatum”), Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Warrior”) as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt (“A History of Violence,” Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk”) as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”).

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Continue reading Captain America: Civil War Begins Production

I attended an expense paid trip by Disney to press events for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (#AvengersEvent, #AgeofUltron), all opinions as always are 100% my own.

I have been awaiting the arrival of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron for a long time and it was so worth the wait. It is out in theaters TODAY! May 1, 2015! Luckily I did get to see it a bit early, on my 41st birthday actually, and it was a spectacular birthday present. I’m going to give you my review of the movie and try not to provide you with any spoilers, as best I can. There are some major spoilers that have already leaked and I hope that you have been able to steer clear of them so far. I’m going to review based upon what we already know from the trailers here and what I learned from the many interviews with cast and filmmakers for the movie. If you missed those interviews they were.

The movie starts right in the thick of the action. This isn’t some “My Summer Vacation by Butch Johnson” opening where we go here and there gathering the Avengers back to the fold. No, this is a team that has been in many fights together in the past. They are fighting like a well oiled machine. They are playing off of each other’s strengths and working together with each other’s powers. There are moments where they even combine their powers into a combo attack. These are moves that they have learned through closely working together many times.

Granted, when I was watching the film I was wondering to myself, “how did everyone get back together as a team?” I didn’t have to ask that of director Joss Whedon because he addressed that in our interview straight away. Whedon said, “instead just go boom, we’re back. This is what you love. Are you having fun? Good. Now we’re going to tear it apart.“. And that is exactly what you get. The team right in the thick of it kicking butt, big time. But, where are they and why are they there? This past Tuesday’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. leads us right up to where and why. It was a great little tie-in to the movie. Continue reading #AvengersEvent – Spoiler-Free AVENGERS #AgeOfUltron Review
