Kart Kingdom Comes to Tablets

Kart Kingdom

The other day, PBS KIDS launched the free Kart Kingdom app, making PBS KIDS’ popular immersive digital world, previously available only on PBSKIDS.org, available on the go. Designed for kids ages 6-9, Kart Kingdom provides a safe, child-friendly experience for playing and learning, featuring a growing collection of fun, educational games for players as they interact, craft and complete quests.

Kart Kingdom empowers children to take the wheel and control their own game-play experience by customizing karts and collaborating with other kids to complete community challenges and unlock rewards. The app features new karts every week and themed events to keep kids engaged as they play games from their favorite PBS KIDS series, including WILD KRATTS, ARTHUR and THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT!

The free tablet app is available for iOS today, and coming soon for Android and Google Play.

PBS Kids is Launching a new 24/7 Channel and a Live Stream Monday

24 7 PBS Kids

Beginning Monday, a new TV channel and a live stream on digital platforms will be available through local stations. PBS stations across the nation will be able to broadcast favorite PBS KIDS shows such as CURIOUS GEORGE and WILD KRATTS 24 hours a day on an additional television channel and offer a live stream, making it easy for children to watch their favorite series during primetime and other after-school hours when viewing among families is high.

Nielsen data demonstrates that live TV is the dominant way children access video, accounting for 68% of the time children spend watching video content.  And most of kids’ TV viewing takes place on weeknights and weekend afternoons and evenings – especially within low-income families, underscoring PBS’ mission to reach all children with high quality, educational content.

Families will be able to access the new channel on-the-go with the digital live stream which complements on-demand clips and full episodes (these continue to be available for free on the PBS KIDS Video App and streaming via pbskids.org). Viewers will be able to watch the station-branded live stream through pbskids.org and on the PBS KIDS Video App, which is available on a variety of mobile devices, tablets and over-the-top platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One and Chromecast.

Andrew Finally Got His Fishing Game

Andrew Got His Fishing Game
Photo-A-Day #4237

PBS Kids sent me a package of fun stuff to promote the new show Splash and Bubbles. I got a chance to see part of the show back in May at the PBS Annual Meeting. I was able to meet the cast and creators of the show and it was great. The show looks amazing and I am looking forward to watching it with Andrew. He loves the ocean. In our video today we played with the items that were sent to us to promote the show. Andrew finally got to get his hands on a Fishing Game. He asked for one last Christmas and Santa did not bring him one. Instead he got a different kind of fishing game. So a year later he still wanted one. His reaction in the video is captured and genuine. I knew he was going to be thrilled. Check out the video and then more information on Splash and Bubbles plus a new Wild Kratts movie.

All New Daniel Tiger Episodes Arrive in Time for the Start of School

Daniel Tiger 100 Days

Daniel Tiger has been a staple television show in our home for the past few years. Andrew has grown up on watching and Eva enjoyed it when she was younger. With Andrew headed to school five days a week he is going to enjoy these school-centric episodes that will be releasing during the week of September 5th. The show is a good one and it has been found to be beneficial to children. The Emmy Award-nominated show helps preschoolers learn appropriate social skills through imagination, creativity, and music.

A recent study showed that children who watched DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD had higher levels of empathy, better ability to recognize emotions, and increased social confidence.

Kids can continue learning with new digital content from DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD. The online game, “Classroom Helpers,” teaches children proper classroom etiquette such as putting away toys, watering plants and more. The game will be available on pbskids.org and on the PBS KIDS Games app the week of September 5th.

You can read about the new episodes below. Continue reading All New Daniel Tiger Episodes Arrive in Time for the Start of School

The ODD SQUAD Movie Premieres Today!

ODD SQUAD Movie - Secret Messages

The day is finally here. Ever since I went to the PBS Annual Meeting back in May I have been excited for ODD SQUAD: The Movie on PBS Kids. It is here today. We get the old agents Otto and Olive teamed up with the new agents Olympia and Otis to take back their agency from Weird Team.

ODD SQUAD Movie - Agent Gear

PBS Sent us an ODD SQUAD care package to celebrate the release of the movie. We were sent some fun things like Spy Sunglasses that allow you to see what is behind you and a spy watch that lets you leave secret messages and also get the time all over the world. There is even a special tool that allows you to see around corners.

Enthusiastic Unboxings

Wicked lot of toys to unbox.
Photo-A-Day #4126

All the products depicted and unboxed were provided free in exchange for honest reviews. I did buy the Qixels and the Hot Wheels car myself, though.

Going away on a nearly week-long trip after going on a trip and then a mini vacation tends to make the mail pile up at the house. I came home to about of big boxes filled with great toys from companies that I met at Sweet Suite. The kids and I will be unboxing and using a ton of toys in the next few weeks. I was very excited to open all these boxes to find some fun toys inside. I can’t wait for the giant water balloon fight we can have with the Bunch o Balloons! Andrew is going to love playing with the Micro Boats and also the Reactorz balls. I think that Eva is going to want to get her hands on the 3D Pen and I will try and solve the Q-Bot puzzle. And we’ll watch some Wild Kratts together.

Catching up on Some #Unboxings

Major Unboxings
Photo-A-Day #4119

I have today off but still had to get some sleep after working last night. I went to the gym to try and get the rest of my 12 X 12 X 12 taken care of for July. I now have 11 done. So after some sleep I took care of opening a few of those boxes that I had gotten while we were away at Great Wolf Lodge. Some from Suite Sweet and Blogger Bash. A Couple others from sponsors that I have worked with over the years and one from PBS Kids.

Everything about the unboxings can be found in the vlog today.

Tongiht we went to New Hampshire to enjoy Allison’s 20th High School Reunion. while she caught up with her friends I caught up with one of her best friend’s husband. We bonded over the upcoming Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition. This will have 30 classic games installed. Many of them I placed with over and over as a kid. The reunion was nice and we had a great time. After that we stayed at our friend’s Michele and Bob. Kept us from having to drive up and back in one night.

PBS on Amazon.com

I’mexcited about this news that many of the PBS Kids shows will be streaming on Amazon Prime. What is most exciting though, is that the shows can be downloaded to your devices for playback while not on the internet. This means car rides or plan trips. Those places where you normally do not have internet access and the kids still want to watch their shows. You can find out all the information on this announcement below.
