Review: Inside Out on DMA, Blu-ray and DVD

Inside Out Blu-ray Combo PackDisney•Pixar’s Inside Out was released on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray Combo Pack and On-Demand November 3rd, We received a copy of the combo pack to watch and review. We saw this movie as a family back when it came out in theaters over the Summer and we really enjoyed it. Andrew and I re-watched the movie this past week and enjoyed it just as much. What I didn’t quite enjoy was Andrew spending hours afterwards running around like a loon singing the Bing Bong song. That aside I liked watching the movie once again.

Basically the movie is about the lives of emotions that live inside each of us. What are their motivations, how do they control what is happening with us and more. Riley is an 11 year old girl. She’s a pretty happy one, too. That is until Riley’s family up and moves from Minnesota to San Francisco. Then things change and the adventure begins for her emotions. Riley is primarily motivated by the emotion, Joy. Joy is in control most of the time but she is joined by Anger, Sadness, Fear and Disgust. These other emotions take control from time to time as the situation calls for it and with each interaction throughout the day some memories are made. Some destined for short term memory, others for long term and the most special become core memories.

Some of Riley’s Core Memories get lost and it is up to Joy and Sadness to find them. What happens then is that Fear, Anger and Disgust are left in charge or Riley. As her life spins out of control so do the emotions in charge. It is an interesting coming of age story that is heartfelt and funny. When you look at it closely, check out which emotions are in charge of Mom and Dad. After watching a second time Andrew has taken to calling me, Mad Dad. Great.

The Combo pack comes with some fun extras including a short called Riley’s First Date. It features her would be suitor and her dad. It is cute and funny. If you can. pick it up, definitely worth watching. Below I have some special videos, links to activities and more. But First the In-Home Trailer.
