All is not well in my camera bag. Sure it is a wonderful and functional Lowepro Fastpack 250 (Black). But, with all the cameras and camera equipment I’ve been carrying around for the past month space has gotten tight. Things all came to a head when I decided not to take my camera bag with me to work today. I guess without me around to regulate the aggression of these shooters well, they took to their tripods and decided to settle things once and for all. Continue reading Camera Standoff over Year 7

Episode #2 Of the Photo-A-Day Podcast
I still haven’t figured out how to set up my podcast to go onto iTunes and figure that instead of worrying too much about that I’d keep making the videos every few days because it is going to take me a while to catch up to current. If I did this once a week it would take me 5 years to get to the point that I am now currently shooting so I’m going to step it up a bit and produce whenever I can, a couple of times each week if I can.
Episode #2 Photo-A-Day Podcast from BenSpark on Vimeo.
For over Five Years I have been taking a photograph every single day. I’ve used Kodak, Canon, Nikon, DROID, Sanyo, and many others to take these photos. Because I have so many I decided to go back through the collection and start posting them with commentary. I am looking for photographers who might like to talk with me and record a show via Skype. Contact me if interested. I can be found at BenSpark.com. Here are some of the links to the photos mentioned.

Episode #1 Of the Photo-A-Day Podcast
At Affiliate Summit East Daniel M. Clark, Joe Magennis, Trisha Lyn Fawver and Lisa Picarille did a great job motivating me to create a podcast. I’ve gone and made the first one but have no idea how to use PowerPress and where to upload the file so that it can go to iTunes. So, the video is on YouTube and Vimeo at the moment.

You Are Going To Take A Trip To The Seaside

You Are Going To Take A Trip To The Seaside
I look at this one and think, well, duh, we go to the Cape every summer and actually will probably start going soon to get the house ready. But I’ve been thinking about going to get my kayak soon so that I can go out on the weekends with my friend Keith from Ten Mile River Watershed Council. I want to help do some river clean ups and film some Wired Kayaker videos.
Wired Kayaker?
For a while I had a blog called The Wired Kayaker. I would go on my kayak and make videos and post them, you can see all 6 of them by clicking on them on the sidebar. I decided to get rid of that blog and incorporate those posts into this blog. You can see all of those posts by looking through the Wired Kayaker category. I noticed that I hadn’t been updating that blog and that kayaking was pretty seasonal so in the winter I lost interest because I wasn’t on the water. I also figure that I shouldn’t separate that part of me to a different blog. This is the blog that people read to see what is going on with me and my kayak adventures certainly are things that go on with me.
This Fortune Made Me Think of My Xacti
I made my 1st Wired Kayaker video (podcast) using my Sanyo Xacti C4. This was not a waterproof camera like my Sanyo Xacti EC1. You’ll be hearing more about Sanyo Xacti these days because Sanyo/Fisher contracted some pretty big name YouTube personalities and gave them some of the new cameras. These are HD still/video cameras that are waterproof. These would be perfect cameras for my Wired Kayaker videos (podcasts). I wonder if Sanyo would like to sponsor the podcast?
Here are the new Sanyo Models.
Sanyo Announces new HD Waterproof Cameras
I’ve already got a Sanyo EC1 waterproof digital camera but now Sanyo has gone and made some even better ones. I’m salivating over here. These would be perfect for the next season of Wired Kayaker podcasts. Click the image to read all about these cameras. If you can’t wait till the new ones arrive you might want to check out these existing models from Sanyo.
Underwater Test Video
I bought a Sanyo EC1 digital Video Camera and I love it so far. There are a few things that bug me like there not being a lens cap as well as the buttons being so small. However it rocks for taking photos and videos. The underwater capabilities are very cool too. Check out this review video I made.
My Sanyo EC1 arrived!
So, my Sanyo EC1 waterproof digital camera arrived the other day. I found it for a great price on Circuit city and got 12 months no interest as well. When it arrived I took it and charged up the battery and took a quick little video of the cats. Then I put it away so I could take it with me on my next trip.
Well, I took it on my trip and ended up that the battery ended up draining. I didn’t take the charger with me and so basically I can’t do anything with it this week so my review is going to be later when I can actually use it.
This explains the situation better.
Thinking about a camera
I am thinking about getting a new video camera. I would really like the Sanyo E1 waterproof digital video camera. It looks great and there have been some very good reviews on Amazon.com for this camera. And the blue version is on sale today as well. But I can’t quite justify a new toy at the moment.
Do you know of a good digital video camera that is waterproof and has good quality images? Drop a comment here and let me know.
Sanyo just keeps making more
In addition to the Sanyo Xacti HD700 there is also the Xacti DMX-HD1000. This is the big brother to the HD700 in that it has a 10X optical zoom. But with this one there seems to be some major limitations that are not making it worth getting. For one thing it has 4MP stills, the HD700 has 7.1MP stills. And the camera that will probably be the best for me the Sanyo E1 Waterproof Video Camera.
For the Wired Kayaker, this would make the most sense. And today the blue version is only $399.00. That is a good price for it. So many choices to make, Sanyo keeps improving their products as well. I am having a tough time choosing.
I need a new video camera
I might not have mentioned it on this blog but my trusty Xacti C4 died. It was a sputter of a death but it is no longer working. It was a tragedy. I can no longer tape Wired Kayaker episodes. I wish I could but no more video camera.
Today however I learned about Sanyo’s latest video camera. This one is called the Xacti HD700 and it is the world’s smallest HDMI camera. For someone who travels all the time, like I do, small is very important. But in this small package big features are packed including a 5x optical zoom. There is also a 12x digital zoom. This camera can zoom up to 60X! It also comes with Adobe Premiere elements 3.0. I have wanted to pick that software up.
I certainly think I need to replace my video camera especially with a child coming. Sanyo was one of my favorites and now with the possibility of getting one that has a 7.1 MP camera and records in 720p would be awesome!
