App Alert: Cookie Monster’s Challenge

My newest app tester is my son Andrew. We received a download code for the new app, Cookie Monster’s Challenge to play with and test. Opinions of the app are 100% my own. Andrew is a fan of this game and has been playing it often. The app holds his interest and is exciting for him each time. The app was created to get pre-schoolers back into the swing of school. Andrew won’t be seeing school for another year but it is a good primer for him.

One of the lessons that Cookie Monster is used for to teach is that of impulse control. When I was a kid Cookie Monster tore through plates and plates of cookies in a wanton manner. Now, he has to be responsible. Poor Cookie. Sure, he still gets his cookies but now he has to wait for them patiently. Great lessons that kids need to learn but bad break for a Cookie Monster. In the app kids do a bunch of mini games to help assemble a Rube Goldberg sort of machine to deliver a cookie to Cookie Monster. Continue reading App Alert: Cookie Monster’s Challenge →

New Half-Hour Sesame Street Program Debuting this Fall

PBS KIDS TO ADD NEW HALF-HOUR SESAME STREET PROGRAM ON AIR AND ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS THIS FALL

Extending the reach of the iconic series produced by Sesame Workshop, the new bonus program will air in addition to the hour-long SESAME STREET, starting Monday, September 1, 2014, on PBS KIDS.

Arlington, VA, June 18, 2014 – Furthering a commitment to using the power of media to educate and entertain America’s children, PBS KIDS and SESAME STREET will introduce a bonus half-hour program this fall on-air and on digital platforms. Starting Monday, September 1, the additional half-hour program will air on weekday afternoons on PBS stations, complementing the one-hour series that airs weekday mornings (check local listings). For the first time, selected full episodes of the 30-minute show will also be available for free online at pbskids.org/video, on the PBS KIDS Video App and on the PBS KIDS Roku channel. By offering this bonus half hour of SESAME STREET in an additional timeslot and through a growing number of digital services, PBS KIDS hopes to reach even more children with one of America’s most beloved and educationally powerful children’s series.
