Social Media Session at Ms. Wheelchair America Leadership Institute

Photo-A-Day #2679

My childhood friend Autumn Grant asked me to give two sessions on Social Media at the Ms. Wheelchair America 2013 Leadership Institute. It was a really nice morning. I took a session that I did for Blog World Expo and adapted it for more general Social Media information. We talked about blogs, podcasts, Facebook and photography and much more. I think the session went best when I explained how the connections with people that I met through Social Media led to some amazing opportunities. Much of the session came up on the fly based on what I learned as a blogger. The funny thing about this is that Autumn and I reconnected via Facebook about six years ago, so, once again Social Media and making connections.

My Entire #ChevyNAIAS Set of Photos is now up on Flickr

While weather became a contributing factor to major annoyances today it in no way dampened my mode or thrill at being at NAIAS. Today was going to be a good day. We had lots of fun things planned and we met with some very very cool people. Despite wrong turns, cancelled flights and being on hold with AmexTravel for an hour it was still a good day. I Attended TweetDrive Providence

Photo-A-Day #2070

Tonight I went to an event that was sponsored by the Newport Interactive Marketers. It was called the TweetDrive. Think of it as a Toy drive for Twitter users. My friend Suzanne McDonald from WordPress Providence and Newport Interactive Marketers invited me to this event. She’s actually invited me to many events and I haven’t been able to attend a single one. I finally could. And She couldn’t make it.

I Talked About Photos

I Talked About Photos
Photo-A-Day #1981

On the second day of the Modern Media Man Summit I gave a session on how to take great photos and post them to the internet to share with others and gain links back too your blog posts. It is my belief that we should be creating our own content like audio, video and photos even if it is not perfect at least it is authentic. So, that is pretty much what my session was all about. It was to be a panel but it ended up just being me doing the session. I think it went pretty well and I posted the entire thing in the previous blog post for today. Big Mountain, Big Sky, Big Fun

Photo-A-Day #1904

Today was another amazing day in Park City, Utah at The Evolution of Women in Social Media Conference. I had so much fun. The day started with tears as Make A Wish Foundation did the opening keynote. The stories and then personal testimony of one family was just so moving. Next year Kleenex or some other Tissue company needs to be a sponsor and include tissues in our packs because it was so emotional. And as Allison knows I am so emotional when I am tired. And I am tired because there is just so much to pack into these days. Continue reading Big Mountain, Big Sky, Big Fun

My Morning Walks

My Morning Walks
Photo-A-Day #1734

For the past couple of mornings I have strapped on a pair of snowshoes and fired up my iPod and trekked around a snow covered field. These walks have given me time to reflect as I listened to the words of Michael J. Fox and his book Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist (aff link). I’m nearly finished the book and am probably going to buy Lucky Man next.

My Dinner with Brogan

Photo-A-Day #1727

Tonight I had the unique pleasure to sit down to dinner with Chris Brogan. Chris and I live near each other and a little while back around Affiliate Summit East we met for the first time. We realized that we lived and worked close to each other and so when an opportunity came to connect I asked him if we could meet up. Chris had a window of time tonight and so after a bit of traffic I met up with him at Landmark Center. We met at Fresh City, but being both carnivores we opted for Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner.

Boston MegaTweetUp
Photo-A-Day #1700

It is really fitting that today I hit a nice round number for my daily photos. It made it much easier to remember when I was talking to people about my Photo-A-Day project while at the BostonTweetUp MegaTweetUp. I have to thank Joselin Mane for throwing such a wonderful event. I met some very interesting people and also caught up with some friends that I’ve met previously. It was really fun. The MegaTweetUp was held at Microsoft NERD – One Memorial Drive – Cambridge, MA and it was a very cool space.
