Kickstarter Alert – The Velara Warriors

Velara Warriors Artwork

My friend Adam of DadaRocks.com tipped me off to this new Kickstarter campaign for female action figures. These figures are called the Velara Warriors. The Velara Warriors were born out of the lack of female action figures available. A direct inspiration when Trisshala went to find a Rey action figure from Star Wars. How was there a lack of a Rey figure on the toy aisle after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. To not have a figure of the main character of the movie on the toy aisle was ludicrous. Rather than just get frustrated about it the sisters, Trisshala and Roobini, took action and decided to create a line of action figures for boys and girls in order to bridge the gap across the toy aisle.

The Velara Warriors will start with a line of female action figures but will add male action figures later. They may even be added sooner if the Stretch goals are achieved. There are 25 More days to go in this campaign and at this point the Velara Warriors are approximately 1/3 funded. The goal is $70,000 pound ($91,292 US).

In addition to the action figures there are also storybooks that give the story of each of the Velara Warriors. The action figures also have interchangeable parts so they can mix and match their armor and weapons and more.

From what I’ve seen on the Kickstarter program, this looks like an interesting set of toys. The artwork and story are very well done. Trisshala and Roobini obviously are fans of many things that I enjoy (Even Highlander). I wish them well in their endeavor and I will take a look at how I can personally support this campaign.

The Star Wars Rebels Team

It has been all about Star Wars for me this past week. I’ve seen the movie twice and am eagerly anticipating playing the new The Force Awakens Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0. I’m also excited to see the movie a couple more times. Once with Allison and once with Eva. Eva has been very excited about Star Wars and has watched Episodes 4-6 and 1. She is eagerly awaiting watching Episode 2 and I may hold off on Episode 3 until we can watch all of The Clone Wars together. I really think that that should be part of her Star Wars education. She asked Santa for a book of the original trilogy and I hope that she gets it because I love that she wants to read about this stuff and not just watch it on TV.

Not that there isn’t a ton of great TV for Star Wars right now like Star Wars Rebels. I recently got some Star Wars Rebels Micro Machines from the #ChooseLightSide program with Hunter PR and Hasbro. I got the two ships, The Ghost and The Phantom. So I wanted to get a group shot of the team plus these ships. Now. I just need to get my hands on a Chopper and an Ahsoka figure and I’ll be all set. And many a Rex figure as an old man. That would be good if they release that and the two new inquisitors. Continue reading Star Wars Weekend Roundup
