During my trip to Branson, Missouri I made a couple of stops at places of historic significance. They were the Branson Ferris Wheel and the Titanic Museum. I was in Branson for a special press tour. I paid my travel to get there and once there the hotel, shows and meals were taken care of. Opinions of all events and shows are my own.

One of the places that we visited was the Branson Ferris Wheel. This very tall Ferris Wheel did not originate in Branson, in fact I had seen this same Ferris Wheel before in Chicago. It was on Navy Pier from 1995 – 2015. Then it was dismantled and moved to Branson where it opened for rides in 2016. The Branson Ferris Wheel is part of the Track Family Fun Parks. This includes several Go Kart tracks, which we did not ride and I so wanted to do that. Maybe on my next trip. There are so many things to do at the Track Family Fun Parks.

The Branson Ferris Wheel stands at 150 feet tall, it can hold 240 riders in its 40 gondolas at the same time and has 16,000 LED lights that light up the night sky on the Branson entertainment corridor. You can see all of the entertainment corridor from the top of the Branson Ferris Wheel and at night you can see its lights dancing on the skyline. One night we had just left one of the shows and I and looked over at the Branson Ferris Wheel. It was beautiful. I loved the dancing lights and designs that were made on the Branson Ferris Wheel.

Another adventure that we had on this trip was one of great historical significance. We had a private guided tour through the Titanic Museum. To be honest I ad no gre expectations upon hearing that we were going to this museum. It really did nothing for me. I’m not incredibly interested in The Titanic and I have seen the movie and read about it, however this tour was fantastic. I had my mind completely changed learning about this incredible tale of tragedy.

When we entered we were given a profile of a passenger on the Titanic. This was a real person who had been on that fateful trip. We read the profiles and learned about who they were and what they had done on the ship. The tales of heroism and honor upon the ship were moving.

Our Titanic tour guide was excellent. He had such a was of telling the tales of the passengers and also about the locations on the Titanic. I think that I began to get really moved when I saw the gallery of photos that were taken by Fr. Francis Browne. He had taken photos of the ship and the passengers days before it sank. He captured the majesty that was this ship and also the humanity of those who worked on it and those people who were going to sail on the Titanic.

At the end of the tour we learned the fate of our passenger. I am happy to say that my passenger Philipp Mock was a survivor. He helped several women including his sister onto lifeboats. He was 30 years old on the trip and passed away at 69 years old. Learning about an actual persona and carrying his story with me through the tour was a powerful message. I know that I got teary eyed through the tour and it was something that I will always remember. I now look upon this event in history with more educated eyes. We had an abbreviated tour but I’d love to come back for the full tour sometime. There is so much to explore.

There are no photos allowed in the museum because of the artifacts but we had special permission to take a couple of photos in the final room and in the gift shop we could do some livestream videos. I made one while I was there.
