The other day I received the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for the Nintendo Switch from Activision to play with and review. so far I have only unboxed it because I do not have my Nintendo Switch, yet. The Switch comes out on Friday, and while I pre-ordered it I am looking at receiving it between March 7 and 10. Man, I thought that by pre-ordering it I could at least have it on the day it comes out. No matter, I couldn’t play much anyway on a Friday before a weekend’s worth of work.
What I can play with, however, are the three new Skylanders Imaginators figures that were sent to me including Grave Clobber, Pain-Yatta and Master Egg Bomber Air Strike.
In the video below I unbox the Starter Pack and after the video you can see some additional images.
Some of the Skylanders that were sent to me.
The former villain Grave Clobber is now a Water Element Brawler Sensei
The former villain Pain-Yatta is now a Magic Element Smasher Sensei.
Master Air Strike got a repaint for the Spring and is now Master Egg Bomber Air Strike.
The Starter pack contained:
- 1 Video Game
- 2 Sensei Skylanders – Golden Queen and King Pen
- 1 Imaginite Creation Crystal – Fire Element
- 1 Collection Poster
- 1 Sticker Sheet
What this Starter pack does not contain is a Portal because you won’t need it with the Nintendo Switch. This bit of information is from the Skylanders press release that I received a while back.
No Portal of Power®? No problem with Nintendo Switch. Skylanders Imaginators for Nintendo Switch provides gamers unique ways to play, including the introduction of a vast digital library that allows players to easily load and store 300+ toys from the Skylanders® franchise* directly to the new home gaming system. The arrival of the digital library empowers players to take their Skylanders Imaginators adventure on-the-go whenever and however they want.
I was interested to unbox the game because I had not seen anything anywhere that showed me what a Nintendo Switch game cartridge looked like. And as you can see below and in the video it is different than other cartridges from the past and from the Nintendo 3DS. It is slightly larger and thicker than a regular SD card.
Once I get to play Skylanders Imaginators on the Nintendo Switch I will report it to you. So, please stay tuned.
