Activision sent me the Cursed Tiki Temple Adventure Pack with Skylanders Sensei Wildstorm, a Life Creation Crystal and an imaginite chest with over 80 parts.
Wildstorm is a Knight Battle Class Sensei of the Air Element and having him unlocks a whole new level, the Cursed Tiki Temple level. It is full of all new baddies and lots of fun.
I loaded in the character as well as the imaginite chest full of 80 imaginite items. Now I have a ton of new stuff to use to create new Imaginator characters. On top of that there was the new Life Creation Crystal and despite already having that design I can still use it to create a new character of a different battle class.
I noticed that the chest provided new ultimate weapons for the imaginators. One weapon for each battle class. Something I failed to point out in the video below. The video shows you more about the character, his catch phrase and much more. Of of the cooler looking characters to come along.
Activision sent me the gameplay video to use in my video. I am still working out how to capture great gameplay on my Nintendo Switch so that I can give you more gameplay videos. This new Adventure Pack releases on April 7, 2017.
I popped into Toys r Us today because Thursday’s offer a 10% discount for TRU credit card holders and I also had a $10 off coupon. So I took a look to see what they had. I found Hard-Boiled Flare wolf for Skylanders Imaginators. this is the Spring/Easter themed repaint of Master Flare Wolf, a character I really like.
I’m so very excited for the launch of the Nintendo Switch and even more excited because I received the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for the Nintendo Switch from Activision. I’m just so excited to see how the game works on this new system. Unfortunately my Nintendo Switch is not arriving until next week. But until then you can enjoy this unboxing of Hard-Boiled Flare Wolf. Also, below I have more information on Skylanders Imaginators for the Nintendo Switch.
The other day I received the Skylanders Imaginators Starter Pack for the Nintendo Switch from Activision to play with and review. so far I have only unboxed it because I do not have my Nintendo Switch, yet. The Switch comes out on Friday, and while I pre-ordered it I am looking at receiving it between March 7 and 10. Man, I thought that by pre-ordering it I could at least have it on the day it comes out. No matter, I couldn’t play much anyway on a Friday before a weekend’s worth of work.
What I can play with, however, are the three new Skylanders Imaginators figures that were sent to me including Grave Clobber, Pain-Yatta and Master Egg Bomber Air Strike.

Today I opened my three Skylanders Imaginators Legendary Creation Crystals. These are creation crystals and comic books plus mini posters. The only thing that is not included is a set of stickers that have the battle class icons. The only set of stickers that works best are those of the light element creation crystal. I had extra and so I used those to label my creation crystals. The legendary creation crystals were for the elements of Light, Life and Magic. I would create the first one and I decided to create a Light Skylander of the Battle Class Smasher. At first I wanted a character with a sort of food themed design. I changed later to more of a rainbow raver with Doomlander gear. The video below has all three Skylanders Imaginators and you can even download them into your own Skylanders Creator app.
As an added bonus the video also details a contest. I’m giving away a 3D printed Skylander. You can enter the contest by posting your Skylander creation to Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag of #BenSparkCreator. The contest will run until December 15th.
We did something different for our Halloween this year. We went over to our friend’s house and went trick or treating around their neighborhood. It was so busy. That was a far cry from our neighborhood where we get maybe 40 people in the night. The kids had a great time with their friends and came home with huge buckets of candy. It reminded me of Halloween when I was a kid. I’d collect a ton of candy from all over the place. Their neighborhood was such a nice neighborhood. We left a bowl on the porch with a note to just take one. It was empty when we returned. Pretty sure it was hit the moment we got into the house. Glad we only put out half of what we had.
Andrew was excited about Halloween all day. He decided to ditch the Iron Man costume for the Skylanders Wallop Costume that we received to review. He really liked that costume. Eva, of course, is all about Harry Potter and loves her Hermione costume so much. She has been talking non stop about it and was delighted with each person who recognized her as Hermione. They both thought that my costume was a riot. I combined my Sriracha Bottle Costume with my Optimus Prime Helmet and went as “Srirachamus Prime”. Observe.
Andrew and I played Skylanders after school today. We played with the Sensei Candy Coated Chopscotch as well as standard Chopscotch and we made an Undead Imaginator with a Creation Crystal. The standard Chopscotch and the Undead Creation Crystal were given to me by Activision. I bought Candy Coated Chopscotch myself on release day. Here is my video about those toys.
We received a Skylanders Halloween costume to try on and review. I opted for the Wallop one for Andrew. He liked it a lot. I think it was the giant Traptanium Hammers that Wallop has. The Wallop costume (aff link) comes with one but the character has two in the game. He even wore the costume to a Halloween party at Eva’s dance studio. He’s quite excited to wear it and play. It has been a pretty Skylanders heavy month around here. What with the game releasing on the 16th and us getting it on the 12th. I haven’t done a full on review of the game as of yet so let me tell you my thoughts on it now. Skylanders Imaginators (aff link) is one of the best games in the series thus far. Not because I received Skylanders Imaginators for free to review, but because it has so many parts to it that I love. Creating new characters, the Imaginators, is a fantastic part of the game. We have opened a few of our Creation Crystals and have created a bunch of characters. I like the addition of Battle Classes to the game.
Each Sensei is a master of a Battle Class and when paired with a Skylander of the same class they give additional power. When you create an Imaginator with a Creation Crystal you have to lock in their Battle Class but otherwise you can constantly change and upgrade the character. We’ve done a ton of that. You can transfer your characters from the game (via sound) to the Skylanders Creator app. This app is fun and the kids love it. We currently have it running on 3 iPads and my Android phone so each day we are unlocking more parts with which to create characters. Once we get the exact one we like then we’ll create a actual physical character through 3D printing. That is rather amazing.
We were given a whole mess of Skylanders days before the launch and I got to work making videos but I have so many more to do. I haven’t even tried out any of my existing figures in the game. I have a massive box in the basement that I need to bring up and see how the older Skylanders work in the game. I’m just having so much fun with the new ones that we’ve gotten that I haven’t had the time to check out the old ones.
Skylanders Imaginators also retains the whole racing aspect of Skylanders SuperChargers and so we can still use all of the vehicles that we have from that game. However, if you didn’t get into that game you can use any of the instant vehicles, there is one for each type of racing: Sky, Land and Sea.
You can play as Kaos in this game. Yes, there is a Kaos figure that you can use in Skylanders Imaginators. He is very powerful and has funny things to do as well.
They made a Skylander that is a Dinosaur! My very favorite dinosaur is a Triceratops and now there is a Sensei called Tri-Tip who is a Triceratops and he is super powerful. I love using that character when I play.
This month is also the month for the release of Skylanders Academy on Netflix. I’ve been excited to see this show and have not been disappointed at all. I’ve watched the first four episodes so far and it has already incorporated Giants, SwapForce, TrapTeam, SuperChargers and even Imaginators. Episode three introduces an Imaginator character which, I think, should be made downloadable through the official YouTube Channel. Because the Imaginators can be transferred via sound they can be sent to anyone. I even made an official BenSpark Imaginator that people can download. So I think that the Official Skylanders YouTube Page should make some Imaginators for people to download to the app. Speaking of the App, the kids talk about the app at the end of today’s vlog post.
This morning when I came home from work I went in search of Skylanders Imaginators figures at Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Gamestop and Best Buy. I only made it to three places because two open at 11am and I needed to get to sleep. Pretty much the only thing I didn’t do with Skylanders Imaginators today was play the actual game. I had to sleep for work but ended up having to take a sick day because I was not feeling well.
While on the hunt I had some decent luck, but not great luck. If I had had great luck then I would have found one of those crystal Master Starcast Sensei figures. Target had a good deal with their Cartwheel app with %20 off Skylanders Imaginators Sensei figures and also off the Creation Crystals. Toys R Us had some of the imaginite chests for 2 for $10 instead of $5.99. They also had Legendary Tri-Tip and Candy Coated Chopscotch. I picked up both and 4 blind bag imaginite chests.
I’ve been working very hard on videos for the new Skylanders Imaginators game. Yesterday I received a giant box of Skylanders Imaginators from Activision to review. I’ve been playing the game today and learning all sorts of interesting information. I recorded a bunch of great gameplay video today which I will work up tomorrow. I chose a couple of Skylanders Senseis to unbox as well as a couple of Creation Crystals. I learned something very interesting about the Creation Crystals. Once you set the battle class of the Skylander Imaginator it is permanent. So, I’ll be using the little stickers to set the proper battle class. I wasn’t going to but now I’ve learned about that permanent feature. What I am doing is making sure that each element has all different battle classes. I’m using the poster to make sure I do that.
While I’ve been playing the Skylanders Imaginators game, Andrew and Eva have been playing the Creator App. We thought that we’d be able to transfer the characters from the app to the game but it is actually the other way around. The transfer is interesting, it is done by sound. I wonder if it is possible to record the sound of one of my creations to make it available for anyone to transfer to their own app. I will have to record a video series of my Skylanders creations so that people can download them to their apps. That would be fun. So here is today’s video and after that is a video on how to use the Skylanders Creator app.
I received a big box of Skylanders Imaginators figures from Activision for free to review. Opinions of the game and toys are 100% my own.I was so surprised to find out that I was going to be getting a full set of Wave One toys for Skylanders Imaginators. The only thing I am missing is the Chompy Mage which is an exclusive to Amazon.com. It is only being sold as part of the Villain Sensei 5-pack. I had ordered that and the Sensei 8-Pack but cancelled those orders after today’s delivery. The box itself was 13 pounds! Inside there were so many figures in the box. I couldn’t even open all of them today. I decided then to just unbox the starter pack so that I could play it tonight. That didn’t even happen until later tonight. I did have an embargo until 7pm tonight and used that time to create a couple of videos. First up is my opening the giant box from Activision.
I took Andrew for a little walk around the Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary. I was surprised to see that there were some tadpoles in the water. I thought it was way too late to see any tadpoles. As we stood there watching we saw catfish and minnows as well. Andrew had fun running all around and then climbing the Pudding Stone.
I had a fairly successful hunt for a Doctor Strange t-shirt today. I found one at Hot Topic and I also found the hot Topic exclusive Jyn Erso figure. This one is in a hoodie. I learned that the Ahsoka Tano exclusive pop was released today but my local Hot Topic didn’t receive any. I will have to take a look at their Facebook page and see when it arrives.
While I was at the mall I saw that some new Marvel character cars had been released including a Doctor Strange one. The prices were $1 more than everywhere else because that is what the collector’s places do, they jack things up. I went to Target to see if I could find some there. No Marvel Hot Wheels character cars to speak of but there was a new Star Wars one that I found, a Jawa. I’m pretty sure that I do not have one of those in my collection.
While I was at Target I walked down the video game aisle and I saw that there were the Skylanders Imaginators already on the shelves. I knew that that could not have been right. The game comes out on October 16 and if that is the case than there would be a block on being able to buying the game. Tonight was the premiere of Arrow. Oliver is back in action but he is now working alone. He is also the mayor of Star City. Being in two places at once is something that he’s going to have to deal with if he is going to succeed. There are also some other players including a new bad guy, Tobias Church, trying to take over things in the city and also some other vigilantes. Felicity wants Oliver to recruit them but Oliver wants none of it. The whole team is scattered. Thea is out, she has found a new life and no longer wants to be a vigilante. Laurel is dead. Diggle went back to the Army. Captain Lance fell off the wagon but has found new purpose. Curtis is spending more time down in the Arrow bunker and is starting to think of his own path. The flashbacks this year are of Oliver’s time in Russia and becoming part of the Bratva. When this year is over we’ll know how and why Oliver ended up back on Lian Yu. Oliver has also made a bunch more trick arrows. The rest of my thoughts are in the video.
