Brave has been the word on all of our lips in this house for the past couple of months. Actually Brave has been on my mind since we went to Disney well over a year ago. I saw that single word on a sign in the Celtic script and I just knew that something amazing was coming from Disney. Little did I know that it was another Disney Princess to add to their pantheon of princesses. This time the princess is a strong willed girl named Merida. She is a princess of a Scottish clan with a proper Queen Mother, a Rowdy but loving King Father and mischief making triplet brothers. Continue reading We Saw a Sneak Peek of Brave Tonight

Review: Disney’s The Aristocats App
The Aristocats is one of those Disney movies that I recall seeing but was never one of my top movies. However, I do love sharing Disney movies with Eva and exposing her to as many Disney movies as we can possibly find. Since we don’t have this movie on DVD I jumped at the chance to review this app and share the story of Duchess and her three kittens Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse and the loveable streetwise O’Malley. I always thought of this movie as the cat version of Lady and the Tramp crossed with 101 Dalmatians.
There is a lot of movement in this story. Cats pulling tails, playing instruments, motorcycles riding and more. As with other Disney animal movies of this sort there is a pack of other animals that help our main characters. Thos characters are almost always own on their luck but are making the best of things. In this case it is a group of Jazz playing stray cats lead by Scat Cat played by Scatman Cruthers.
This digital storybook is very much from the movie in that it looks like the animated feature. It also has wonderful narration and it looks like the issue that I have had with the previous books in that I could inadvertently skip pages has been resolved.
For the special interactive features of this Disney Classic we have puzzles and paintings but also a musical instrument, the piano. Follow the paw prints and learn to play a song or free play or listen and watch as animated cat paws play a song for you. Eva loves anything musical on the iPad and so this was one of her favorite features.
In all another terrific app based on a classic Disney movie. Here is the official information on the app.
Disney Publishing is excited to release the newest storybook in its Disney Classics series – The Aristocats!
Parents can relive the classic story of the 1970 “homeward bound” adventure and introduce it to a new generation with this interactive app featuring rich illustrations, professional narration, and music from the original film.
The Aristocats app, available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, tells the story of Duchess and her three kittens as they try to find their way home to their beloved Madame Bonfamille with the help of resourceful alley cat Thomas O’Malley. Will the “aristocrats” make it home, or will Edgar, Madame’s conniving butler, prevent them from ever seeing home again? App features include: story personalization, reading modes for all ages, coloring pages and interactive puzzles, piano activity, “old-fashioned camera” photo feature and beautiful illustrations, narration and sound effects.
Geared towards kids ages 3-7, The Aristocats app is available for $3.99 on the App Store.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this app to test and review. Opinions about it are 100% my own.
