Making Good on a Promise

Retro Gaming

Photo-A-Day 2.0 #00042

When I was a kid I played the Nintendo Entertainment System, the NES. My very first one had the serial number of 000001, I swear to God!! However, that one gave up the ghost and I got another to replace it. My grandparents got the system for me and I played that every single day! The Legend of Zelda was my most favorite game and it was cool because the game saved your progress on a special battery. I think it was only supposed to last for 5 or 10 years however. I saved the system so that one day when my kids say that they are bored with all the cool things they have I would make them play these old games.

I’ve been writing for The Toy Insider for a while now. I write about video games and my next article is about Retro gaming. I can’t think of anything more retro then a Nintendo Entertainment System and all the games that I played as a kid. Although, you can pretty much get access to every single one of the games that I physically have in the digital space. Nintendo Switch has Nintendo Switch Online, a $20 a year service that lets you play online games with friends (through an app on a phone) but it also lets you play so many of the classic games including The Legend of Zelda.

I shows this to the kids last night so that I could get a photo for the article. I’m going to see if I can connect the system to my TV upstairs and see if anything still plays on it. Otherwise I am not sure what to do with everything. I have over 50 games that I either bought or were bought for me. Many hours mowing lawns to get the money to buy them myself. It may be time for eBay.

Review: Thinking Putty Puzzle from ThinkFun Featuring Crazy Aaron’s Binary Blue Thinking Putty

ThinkFun Thinking Putty Puzzle

ThinkFun is a toy company that makes some of the best puzzle games out there for kids. Adults, too. We received the game for free to play with and review. Opinions are our own.

The kids love anything to do with slime or putty. They love to make it and they love to buy it. The brand of putty that they love is Aaron’s Thinking Putty. They are always asking us for tins of it whenever we go to An Unlikely Story. So, when I showed them Thinking Putty Puzzle – The Mind-Stretching Logic Game featuring Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty they couldn’t wait to try it out. The set comes with six different colors of putty. That also includes the exclusive “Binary Blue” color that was made just for the game. It is the exact color of ThinkFun’s logo.

Andrew has played with the game the most but he wasn’t up for making the video so I did the bulk of the video and got him featured in it for a bit.
