Our Christmas day was pretty relaxed. We got up late and opened gifts. We had our cinnamon rolls after all the gifts were opened. It was a lighter year this year Some gifts did not arrive on time and some were for things and experiences in the future. Last year Allison and I gave each other some fun gifts for events but they did not happen because of the virus.

Also, because of the virus we were home. We did not venture down to the Cape to spend time with my parents and sister and brother-in-law. We stayed put and had a nice day, we did do Zoom calls for both sides of the family. The kids were excited about their gifts. Andy got a new controller for the Nintendo Switch and Eva got a Dungeons & dragons starter set and she is very excited about that. The kids got me some Hot Wheels and I got Allison some sewing lessons.

Jingle Socks

Eva also got Andy some Jingle Bell socks and he enjoyed wearing them all day long so he jingled while he walked.

Happy D and D Girl

Eva would like to do a D&D campaign soon. She really wants to be the dungeon master.

We had meat pie for dinner and then played some games including 5 Minute Marvel, a spin on the 5 Minute Dungeon games.

We all went to bed a little later than usual because of all the excitement, and probably sugar, from the day. It was a different Christmas but it was a nice one just the same.

Christmas Eve 2020

Family At Christmas Eve Dinner

This Christmas was a little different than past years. Or Rather, it was a lot different. We have been in quarantine since the 15th because of a close contact and therefore our plans to head to Cape Cod for Christmas day and spend it with my parents and sister Tara and Uncle Erik were gone out the window. That still would have been a different Christmas but it would have been closer to normal. For the past few years we have hosted Christmas eve dinner after the 4pm Christmas Eve vigil at Sacred Heart Church. This year we got dressed up and watched Mass on Facebook Live. It was still at Sacred Heart Church but it was sad that we could not be there in the church itself.

We still had the delicious chicken stew that Allison makes each year but it was a table set for 4 people. We did get dressed for dinner and had a very nice meal.

The Kids Are Growing

The Kids enjoyed just being able to be at the house. Allison and I enjoyed being able to keep the whole house clean or in the semi clean state that we usually keep it. She made the meals and I washed the dishes. Allison also made two meat pies for dinner tomorrow night.

After dinner we got into comfy pajamas and were going to watch a Christmas Story but instead we introduced the kids to Christmas Vacation. It was edited for TV so some of the kid jokes lost their luster but the kids still found it funny. Andy was quite observant and noticed that when Clark brings a gift to his boss every gift that the boss has on the table is the exact same size. Allison had never noticed that before. Those are the things that I find funniest in this movie. Clark saying things under his breath, the subtle visual gags like when Clark and Eddie are shopping and Clark places a pack of 4 light bulbs onto a stack of dog food and Eddie takes a 50lb bag of dog food and drops it right on the light bulbs. Nothing is said and there is no reaction at all from Clark. It is the funniest thing to me.

Snack Time

While we watched the movie we also enjoyed some Hot Cocoa Bombs and Mrs. Packer Christmas cookies. I ordered six of these cookies so that we could give Santa a special cookie along with a giant carrot for the reindeer. Early to bed because tomorrow is Christmas.
