Disney Descendants is out on DVD

Disney Descendants

We received a copy of the Disney Descendants DVD to watch and review. Opinions are our own. It came with a special Isle of the Lost Bracelet. Eva was so excited to have that and wear it. It is a pretty nice little bracelet with the symbols for the four villains on the movie, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Jafar and The Evil Queen. Eva had watched the movie on her own on her Disney Channel app but we watched it together when the DVD arrived. I had seen the toys for this movie back at Toy Fair and I wanted to check it out as well.

The movie wasn’t too bad, it was cute and fun with a good message in the end. It was very much a High School Musical meets fairytale land sort of movie. The basic gist is that Belle and Beast rule over this special kingdom and they have defeated all the villains. The villains now live on an island and they have had kids. The other fairytale characters have had kids as well. Ben, the son of Beast and Belle is about to ascend to the throne and his first decree is to pardon the children of the villains as they should not be punished for their parent’s transgressions.

As a temporary experiment four of the children are allowed to come to the fairytale kingdom. So Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay come to the mainland and start going to the school with the other children of fairytale characters. Through a series of events Mal and friends learn things about themselves and become more than what they were raised to be. I enjoyed the movie and the songs were great, there was even a rendition of Be Our Guest.
