Today was Eva’s eighth birthday. She had a Disney Descendants themed party where her friends and cousins came over and they watched the movie together and enjoyed many candy treats like the kids in the movie. Allison, Eva and Andrew separated the different colored candies into containers according to the colors for each of the four characters. They did a really nice job of it, too. Allison then decorated a couple dozen cupcakes for each of the characters as well. It was a more low key birthday than last year’s monster hunt but a lot of work none-the-less.
The kids arrived and they filled up their cups with the different candies and they also got little boxes of popcorn. They went to the living room to enjoy the movie while they had their candy. It was really quiet, other than the movie for a while.
The quiet did not last however. About an hour into the movie the boys were getting restless so we went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather in the backyard. Along came a hot air balloon high in the sky over our house. Andrew looked up and got really excited. He started running to go and tell Eva about the balloon. That was when he tripped and fell. Hard.
I got over to Andrew and he was crying. He said that his hands hurt and I had him open and close his hands, rotate his wrists and he was fine. Then I saw a drop of blood hit the ground. That freaked me out. I hadn’t spun Andrew to face me yet and when I did he had blood all around his left eye. He had sunglasses on and I was worried that somehow they got pushed up into his eye, luckily they did not. Instead he had a pretty big gash on his forehead. It looked really bad to me and so we called the doctor to see if they could see him or if we had to go to the Emergency Room. Off to the Emergency Room we went where Andrew got crayons, a few coloring pages, some glue for his cut and a Popsicle. He went though like a trooper.
We came back and had missed all the rest of the party. We didn’t see Eva open her gifts or blow out her candles. Luckily my Dad used my camera to take a bunch of pictures of all the festivities.
We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family who could join us for this day. Eva had a great time surrounded by her friends and cousins. Everyone got along and had fun playing around the house, inside and out.
I love that dad caught this little moment with Dylan.
Right before Andrew took his header Allison mentioned to me that we needed to get an photo of the cousins together for her mom. Well, we did get one, finally when we returned from the hospital. I’m glad that Nate and the kids came down and stayed long enough to see us return from the ER.
