Review: Zing Airstorm Firetek Bow

Eva and the Zing Firetek Bow

When I was at Time to Play last month I got to get my hands on a Zing Firetek Bow. I also asked if I could have one for a review. The product was provided and the opinions are my own. This is a sweet little piece of hardware. IT is like the Zing Air Storm and Air Huntress Z-Curve Bows that we reviewed in the past. The main difference in this bow is that it lights up and so does the ammo. We received a red version that is exclusive to Walmart and it went very well with Eva’s Halloween costume.

The Firetek Bow in Package

The bow lights up when you press on the main grip. This is a pretty impressive sight in the dark of the night. The Zonic Blaze whistle screaming arrows have a switch on them that lights them up as well. I spent most of Halloween night carrying the bow and firing the arrows. At one point I was curious about how far the arrow would really go so I fired one up and over my house. I expected to find the arrow somewhere in the back yard. It would be easy to find because of the bright red color. Well, I didn’t find it in the back yard. I didn’t think that the arrow could have gone further but I went through the fence and past our garage to find the arrow almost in my neighbor’s yard. All information about the bow and arrow says that the arrows go 145 ft. I personally think that is a bit conservative and depends upon the strength of the pull of the archer. From the street in front of my house up the hill to the back of the house has got to be further than that or at least that, it was pretty far. I’ll have to do some tests on a football field or somewhere that I can get a more accurate measure.

Lighting up the Firetek Bow

The bow is very lightweight and fits comfortably in my hand as well as my daughter’s much smaller hand. While she does not have my arm strength, she can still fire off decent shots.

The only thing that I had issue with was that the bow does not have clips for the extra arrows. I have yet to find a good way to carry my extra arrows with me for when I run around and play with the bow. These arrows are much thicker than the arrows we have for the Z-Curve Bows because of the light element in the shaft of the arrow.

The Firetek bow was chosen as one of the Hottest Holiday Toys of 2014 by Kids through Walmart.

I am looking forward to a nice mild weather evening to go nighttime monster hunting with Eva and the Firetek Bow.

Trouble is with 2 kids, you can’t just get one because they fight over it 🙁
