Oh Yeeeah! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Begins Shooting!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2A few years ago I had the distinct pleasure and a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to California to see Guardians of the Galaxy and meet and interview the cast. It was such an amazing experience and to this day is the best ever press trip I was on. Meeting Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, James Gunn, Zoe Saldana, and Vin Diesel was simply amazing. We missed Kevin Feige on this trip but I did get to see him on another trip that I went on for Avengers: Age of Ultron. So, suffice it to say I am bursting with excitement to see this movie. I follow James Gunn on Facebook and he is excellent with his posts. He did an amazing thing with Guardians of the Galaxy and Vol. 2. promises to be even better.

There are some great things happening in this new movie including the addition of Kurt Russell as Star-Lord’s father. I think he is the most perfect casting for this role. I’ve loved him since The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes that I watched on The Wonderful World of Disney. And then his roles as Snake Plissken in Escape from New York and then Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China, plus Gabriel Cash in Tango and Cash he was awesome! So he’s gonna crush it as Star-Lord’s dad.I just cannot wait. Below is the press release for the movie. Continue reading Oh Yeeeah! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Begins Shooting!

Go #TeamEvans

Photo-A-Day #3586

Eva went and predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl. Captain America, Chris Evans made a friendly wager with Star-Lord, Chris Pratt on the outcome of the Super Bowl. I guess that the kids at Chris’s Haven will be getting a visit from Star-Lord very soon.

The Challenge:

  • If the Patriots win, Chris Pratt has to visit Christopher’s Haven in Boston as Star-Lord and wear a Tom Brady Jersey for the duration of his visit.
  • If the Seahawks win, Chris Evans has to visit Seattle Children’s Hospital to wave Seattle’s 12th Man Flag in his Captain American uniform.

I personally think that the kids would love seeing both Star Lord and Captain America show up together with Tom Brady. How amazing would that be?

I watched the game through updates from friends on Facebook and Twitter as well as some of the streaming services that my co-workers were running. I guess I missed a pretty exciting game, glad that the Patriots won. Eva is going to be so excited tomorrow morning when she finds out.

He’s From a Planet of Outlaws – Chris Pratt Interview – #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent

Chris Pratt Interviewed by Bloggers

I was really pumped up for the Chris Pratt interview during the #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent. On my way out to California I had the copy of Entertainment Weekly with Chris on the cover. I kept taking selfies with it and tweeting silly things like “Flying to California with @prattprattpratt, I hope he doesn’t commandeer the armrest.” And I took photos like this one:

Just silly stuff because when I think about Chris Pratt I think mostly about a guy who can embrace the silly and come up with something very clever. I love his delivery of lines from movies like Delivery Man and The Lego Movie. He really knocks it out of the park with his comedic timing as Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. In our group interview he completely won us over with his charm, self-deprecating humor and authenticity.

Laughter started off our interview and laughter finished it. The first question to Chris was from Mitch of Gay NYC Dad who once again gets points for the cleverest break the ice question. Mitch said, “You clearly didn’t need it but did they want you to take dance lessons?” This made all of us laugh and Chris as well. Chris’ response was “how about that, how about that kind of thing. That’s just like another element to this movie that’s like unlike anything, anyone has ever done in a way, so that’s pretty cool.” You can catch Chris’ moves in a few scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy. I know that Mitch was alluding to something later in the movie but I loved a part very early on in the movie it was so funny and not only set up who Peter Quill was in his own mind but who he aspired to be. DVD Review: Delivery Man

Delivery Man Box Art

I was sent a copy of Delivery Man starring Vince Vaughn to watch and review. Opinions of the movie are 100% my own.

Last Thursday Allison and I had a free night so we watched Delivery Man. I had heard about this movie and I had also participated in some campaigns to promote it. I was interested to see it because the idea was a crazy one. A guy, lovable loser David Wozniak – Vince Vaughn, donates to a sperm bank an exorbitant amount of times and his donations are also selected many many times, so many that he is the father of 533 children. When a group of those children sue the donation facility to find the identity of their father Davids already crazy life gets turned upside down but at the same time he finds purpose and order.

I thought this was a cute movie. Certainly a fun Friday night on the couch rental type movie. The performances by Vince Vaughn, Cobie Smulders and Chris Pratt were good. I especially liked Chris Pratt and Vince Vaughn talking while all of Chris’ kids were misbehaving. It was one of my favorite scenes, here is a small snippet.

“I Think I Want a Kid”

I know that parents can certainly relate to this scenario. How often do you feel like whatever you say beyond the word “cookie” are falling on deaf ears. Keep at it because those things that you say over and over will eventually sink in. They will hear you and more so they will hear your actions. So, say what you will but do what you want them to do.

Despite the whole premise of Delivery Man being so unbelievable there are genuine moments of heart in this movie. Moments of parenthood that may not happen in every family but if you have 533 kids you are going to experience the gamut of situations. All through it David is a guy who tries, fails often but keeps trying and has some great moments of success. It is worth picking up to watch.

Below I have the official movie synopsis as well as some clips from the movie and one deleted scene, which in my opinion it should have been deleted, it doesn’t quite fit. Continue reading DVD Review: Delivery Man
