Give Slugterra a Chance

Photo-A-Day #3246

Slugterra is one of those cartoons that is beloved by myself and my daughter, Eva. I wasn’t sure if she would like it at first, but she loves it. I had my own doubts about it, too. I’m very glad that I gave it a chance.

Last year I went to Toy Fair and looked all over for the Slugterra toys. I found some blasters and some slugs. The most recent toys that came out were action figures and some new slugs. I wanted to see if there were some new ones coming for 2014. I looked all over the place but there were no new Slugterra toys to speak of. I really wish that there were some more toys coming and also that more people had given this show a chance. It would have been nice to get a Mecha for Kord and maybe a Pronto and a Trixie figure. But I don’t forsee it happening. Maybe if more people end up watching the one-hour Slugterra movie.

Slugterra is Eva's Favorite show, hands down. She loves Eli and Trixie, laughs and Pronto and thinks that Kord is me. I am so glad I introduced her to this series. It is so well done.

We received a copy of Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground to watch and review. Opinions are 100% our own.

The series begins to really delve into the past with Will Shane and what sort of secrets he had. We meet characters who have ties to Will Shane. Eli gets some new allies in the Shadow Clan. The Shane gang becomes more of a tighter unit as Eli confides in the team his most precious secret, he reveals that he came from the surface. So much happens in these five episodes to move the overall story along.

In a series with such colorful characters and a rich backstory and character development I am saddened that it has not gotten the love it deserves. The toys were non-existent at Toy Fair this year and what ones that have been released aren’t that good (the slugs are great but the blasters and action figures are weak). I look forward to all of the episodes being released and also for the upcoming movie. I hope that that movie helps jumpstart an interest in the series again. If only Disney XD would play the entire series all the way through I think that more people would get on board. In the meantime you can get the first 20 episodes which span seasons 1 and 2.
