Photo-A-Day #1828

A busy day today. Zumba and ChildWatch for Allison and Eva while a haircut was on my plate. Then as a family we drove up to Lexington to the National Heritage Museum to see Ellis Paul give a talk titled THE REVOLUTIONARY SPIRIT OF AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. We got there early and so we walked around the museum and saw many of the interesting exhibits including an installation of Jim Henson items. They had Gobo Fraggle, Kermit the Frog and Manha Mana on display. The that installation was a very good one and seeing Henson’s history before Sesame Street, The Muppets and the Fraggles. Henson started with some advertising campaigns and you can see the beginning of his characters in those designs. Eva liked the Fraggles.

Way to Go Nick!

Way To Go Nick!
Photo-A-Day #1521

My cousin Nick graduated from High School today. He went to Upper Cape Technical and he’s off to college later this year. Nick is also my godson and I am so proud of him graduating. I went to the Graduation with my Mom and Dad and I, of course, took my camera. I got a pretty decent spot to catch him as he left the stage with his diploma.

After the graduation we swung by the house and picked up Allison and Eva. We then headed over to my grandfather’s house for a graduation party for Nick.

It was really weird being in the house with Grandma not there. I went into her room and expected sort of to see her in her bed. I knew that was ridiculous but it was the first time I had been over since she passed away. Grandpa is doing okay, he has a dog to keep him company, the dog is a little wiener dog named lady.

One thing that I wanted to do for Nick but things didn’t come together as I had hoped, was to give him an e-book by Ed Gerety. The book is called College Crossroads and I thought it would be a wonderful thing to give to Nick on a Flash drive along with the photos I took at the graduation. I gave nick the flash drive and the photos but had some trouble getting the book, I’ll have to give it to Nick later this summer before he heads to school. We also hooked him up with a Bookstore giftcard to help him buy books for school. If they are anything like the books I had to buy he’s gonna need all the money for them he can get.
