Andrew and the Giant Squid

Andrew and Allison and the Giant Squid
Photo-A-Day 2.0 – #00005

Allison has been knitting something special for Andrew for a few months now. It was a giant squid blanket that Andrew can step into and pull up around himself. It is adorable. She even made giant eyes and sewed them on to the squid. With each stitch she would turn to me and say, “I hope this boy never doubts how much I love him.” Sewing isn’t Allison’s thing but knitting is. she can knit anything and she is really good at it and particular about how she knits. I think that she would have made my grandmother Theresa quite proud of the progress she has made over the past 10+ years of knitting.

For Andrew’s part he was appropriately excited for his gift as you can see in the video below.

Very Hungry Caterpillar Hat

Photo-A-Day #3332

Allison has been working on a hat for our friend’s baby boy. His first birthday is coming up and she made him an adorable Very Hungry Caterpillar hat. The very same Very Hungry Caterpillar from the Eric Carle books. We wanted to get some shots of the hat so we had Andrew model it. the thing is, Andrew is not a cooperative model. As soon as he sees the camera he turns away. He is most unhelpful in that aspect. My new NXMini has a kid’s mode and with it there is sound. When I push the shutter button a silly sound is made which should cause a child to turn and look. Then the camera takes a series of 5 photos. The thing is, Andrew doesn’t turn to the noise and after the camera does the 5 shots he laughs at that sound, more maybe he’s just laughing at my frustration.
