I Received my Acceptance Letter #MonstersUEvent

Monsters University Acceptance Letter

Monsters, Inc. came out right after I finished college or rather after I finished my 5 additional years in college after graduation. I spent the year right after graduation as a program assistant and then spent the four years after that as a Residence Hall Director. It is high time that I go back to college. Luckily I was accepted into the Monsters University Orientation Program and will be going back to school this April 8-10. I’ll be learning all about the classes at Monsters University like Scarenomics 101, Advanced Growling and Tether-ball, monsters love tether-ball.

Okay so maybe I won’t be attending Monsters University but I will be flying out to San Francisco to a Blogger Event surrounding the upcoming Pixar movie, Monsters University. Here is the tentative schedule of what I’ll be doing. Continue reading I Received my Acceptance Letter #MonstersUEvent

The Monsters University Poster has been Released

Pixar's Monster's University

About the movie:

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from future Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Fame–inductee and award winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). For more information, like us at http://www.facebook.com/PixarMonstersUniversity, and follow us on http://www.twitter.com/disneypixar. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Monsters, Inc. 3D Blu-ray Ultimate Collector’s Pack Review

Monsters Inc Ultimate Collector's Edition Pack Shot

We missed Monsters, Inc. when it returned to theaters in 3D. Luckily the TV I won last year is a 3D TV and with our 3D Blu-ray player we were able to experience a movie that we love in a whole new way. Monsters, Inc. is one of those wonderful fun and imaginative movies that turns a known concept on its ear. In this case it is monsters under the bed or in the closet in this case. The monsters who are scaring kids are doing a job and like any job there are on the job perils and big time corporations looking at the bottom line instead of what really matters. In this case the corporation believes that children are toxic to monsters and try and keep anyone quiet who learns otherwise. Our heroes not only learn the truth but learn that the laughter of a child provides more energy for Monstropolis than even the highly sought after screams.

It was nice to see Mike and Sulley up to their antics in a whole new way, 3D. There are also tons of great extras in the DVD set including the 3D Blu-ray, the regular Blu-ray, DVD and Digital copy. With this set you are completely covered for any type of media playback device you might have. There are also a bunch of fun extras including a funny sneak peek at the upcoming Monsters University movie where we will see how Mike and Sulley met. More info below. App Review: Monsters, Inc Digital Storybook

Monsters Inc Storybook Deluxe

With Monsters, Inc re-released and the upcoming release of Monsters University it is nice that an app has been released so that kids can become reacquainted with Mike, Sully and Boo or meet them for the first time. The app is another one in the line of Disney’s Storybook Deluxe apps that come with a rich story that is nicely illustrated and narrated along with extras like games and more. This app is a nice addition to the line and comes with activities unique to Monsters, Inc. Continue reading App Review: Monsters, Inc Digital Storybook

Coming This June – Disney Infinity!

Disney is getting into the game of interactive figures that work cross platform on many video game consoles. The new game is called Disney Infinity and this is the new trailer for it.

I’ve watched the trailer a few times and here are some things I’ve noticed.

  • The platform has space for two characters and what I suspect is one for a Play Set.
  • The initial starter pack will include Sully from Monsters INC and the upcoming Monsters University, looks like the Play Set for that is Monster’s University.
  • Captain Jack Sparrow is also part of this set and I suspect many of the other pirates as well, the trailer shows Barbosa and Davy Jones at least.
  • I saw Wreck-It Ralph and that makes me happy.
  • The last figure in the starter pack is Mr. Incredible.
  • It looks like characters can use other characters signature items like Buzz Lightyear’s jet pack and wings.
  • I saw the Queen of Hearts’ Flamingo croquet mallet and more.
  • June is going to be a lot of fun for Disney video gaming fans and if Skylanders has taught us anything the buzz for this will get huge and the hunt for figures will be on.
  • Lots of speculation about characters beyond those that you can see in the trailer and how many total Play Sets will be in this first release.
  • There is also the option to create your own world in the game. That is very interesting to me.

So you have a combination of Skylanders, Minecraft and Disney. As long as the game plays well this should be a mega hit. I hope that there is something to see at Toy Fair next month.

MONSTERS, INC Back in Theaters but now in 3D

Monsters Inc, 3D

Monster’s Inc is coming back to the theaters on December 19, 2012. This time the movie will be in 3D. The release comes about six months before the Monsters, Inc prequel is released. To get excited for the movies I have some downloadable activity sheets for you.

And if you don’t have any idea about Monsters, INC I have the official press release below.

Coming from Disney: Monsters, Maleficent, Pixie Dust and Whistling While you Work

I get a ton of alerts from Disney about upcoming projects, movies that are out in theaters, tv shows in the works and more. Well, I can’t post them all in their own posts, that would just be too much, but I can tell you about everything that is coming up and those things include Monsters, Maleficent, Pixie Dust and Whistling while you work.

first up on the release schedule is another Tinkerbell movie which will be going to BLuray and DVD. I’ve enjoyed these movies so far and so has Eva. We’ve watched all of them except for the 1/2 hour special the Pixie Hollow Games. I need to find that for her. I missed recording it on the Disney Channel. The newest Tink movie is Secret of the Wings and here is a trailer for it.

This will be coming out on October 23, 2012. Looks like a fun winter themed installment of the popular Tinkerbell themed movie series.

Next up is the teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY. The movie is slated for release June 21, 2013 so you have a bit of a wait but the movie does look like fun.

There are four versions of the teaser with four different lines from Mike. You can vote for your favorite at the facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/PixarMonstersUniversity

Looking even further ahead to 2014 there are two projects. The first has a release date of March 14, 2014 and that is a live action Maleficent movie with Angelina Jolie in the title role. Check her out in those green eyes and horns.

Angelina Jolie as MALEFICENT

This is also a prequel. The description is.

This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.

Disney Junior is a channel for Preschool Disney fans and there is a new show coming to Disney Junior starring seven beloved characters who are getting an update and a comedic show called The 7D. This is slated for 2014 and here is the description.

The series takes place in the whimsical world of Jollywood, where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. With seven very distinct personalities, the 7D always manage to save the day and send Grim and Hildy running back to their evil lair to try another day.

Here is an image of what the 7D will look like.

So, there looks to be a little bit for everyone coming up from Disney. I’m sure that there are other projects on the way but these are a small sample of what you will be seeing.

Playing LEGO Creationary on a Rainy Day

Photo-A-Day #2230

This morning Eva and I ran over to Walmart to pick up Creationary. This is a LEGO game that is similar to Pictionary in that instead of drawing you need to build something that looks like something that you see on a card. I had wanted this game for a while and so when I recently got a gift card for Walmart.com I used the site to store option to go and pick up the game.
