I finally cleaned up on the side of my bed and went through the stack of Press Kits that I picked up at the North American International Auto Show. These are some very cool things. The big deal this year was the USB drive. I came away with 16 different USB drives and 5 CDs. There was also the Press Kit from Tesla that was a Hot Wheels car. That was really cool. While weather became a contributing factor to major annoyances today it in no way dampened my mode or thrill at being at NAIAS. Today was going to be a good day. We had lots of fun things planned and we met with some very very cool people. Despite wrong turns, cancelled flights and being on hold with AmexTravel for an hour it was still a good day. Today was the first day of the North American International Auto Show. Talk about the big time. I have never in my life been a full on member of the media with media credentials and everything. I was able to get into everything and meet with so many high level executives from GM that I was astounded at the accessibility that I had. I was at NAIAS as a guest of GM and as such my transportation, accomodations and meals were provided for by GM. the opinions I express in this post are 100% mine. I was not limited in any way to just the GM line of products and as such will mention all that I saw and experienced. Today was a great day and I will try and recount it through my post, video and photos. So much happened that it is hard to get it all into one post but I will try. So pull up your coffe because I’m gonna take you on a ride.

Today I met one of my top 10 online awesome-est people. I finally met Cali Lewis. After missing out on meeting her during two BlogWorld Expos and after following her podcast for over three years I finally met her. I’m in Las Vegas for a couple of days for the Consumer Electronics Show, Affiliate Summit and then I leave for Detroit for the North American International Auto Show. On my flight here I caught up on my backlog of video podcasts including GeekBeat.tv, Cali’s Show. She usually does tweet ups and so I checked to see if she said anything about doing a TweetUp while she was here. Luckily I caught the tweet showing that she was having a TweetUp at Earl of Sandwich over in Planet Hollywood Casino. Daniel and I headed over.

Tonight we took Allison out for a birthday dinner at El Azteca over in Attleboro. We’ve heard all sorts of great things about this place. It was pretty decent. They make good chips and salsa as well as guacamole. The rest of the food was decent. I did get some pretty pedestrian stuff, didn’t step too far outside the comfort zone this time.

Today I got my travel booked for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. I’ll be attending as a guest of GM. Eva was in rare form and hilarious today. She fell into the toilet doing the potty all by herself. Later she had a cup of water and let it spill on the floor then got a roll of toilet paper from the bathroom and put pieces down all over the place to “clean it up”. A few of them even covered over the water.
