The Office: – A super sized office tonight. Michael takes the office sans Toby to the beach for beach day. But instead of a fun and relaxing day at the beach the folks form the Office are subjected to a bizarre Survivor-esque set of games. The games included an egg and spoon race. I love how Dwight still calls Ryan ‘Temp’. Then there was a hot dog eating contest and Michael reveals his true intentions, he is testing everyone to find out who should replace him as regional manager. Once the group finds this out Stanley steps up to try and win at everything and results in a hilarious scene between he and Jim.
Jim and Karen both call in to corporate to apply for the job. Andy ends up floating away after trying to do something by the water’s edge and Angela just lets him float away. The final test is a walk through fire. Pam goes ahead and walks across the hot coals and then goes through an epiphany moment. She reveals everything that had been pent up inside her for the last few months. Here feelings for Jim, Why the wedding was called off, and how pissed she was that everyone decided not to go to her art show. It was a great Pam moment.
Scrubs: – Elliott begins to plan her wedding in earnest. She of course has had a wedding book for years. She ends up talking crazy as usual and begins to have doubts. All the while Dr. Cox is helping her feed more and more into her own insecurities. Keith is so smitten that he puts up with all of the crazy as usual and J.D. and Turk go to a convention. At the convention they end up running into J.D.’s ex who he got pregnant and who told him that she miscarried. She didn’t. That may be a plot device for a soap opera but is terrible for a lighthearted show like Scrubs. I was disappointed in that direction for the show.
Janitor took over the role of the chief of medicine and actually got some things done around the hospital. I really do like the janitor’s little schemes. He and Dr. Kelso reconcile in the end. And the hospital has a new doctor, Dr. Toilet. That was pretty funny. Turk and Carla pretty much took a back seat to J.D. and Elliot’s stories this week. Although I did like that J.D. and Turk got Vanilla Bear and Chocolate Bear name tags at the conference.
Traveler: – Tonight was a sneak preview of a show that will be premiering on May 30th at 10:00pm (It is taking the Lost time slot). The show is called Traveler. And this show is pretty intense. There are many twists and turns and the action is pretty good.
The show centers around three grad school buddies, Will – played by Aaron Stanford (Pyro of The X-Men), Jay – played by Matthew Bomer (Tru Calling) and Tyler – played by Logan Marshall-Green (The O.C.). The three set off on a 2 month cross country road trip. Will is the free spirit and convinces Tyler and Jay to pull a prank in a museum in New York. Will always has a video camera with him and he tapes Jay and Tyler rollerblading through the museum in a race to get out of the building first. Will says he will be right behind them.
Jay and Tyler get out and meet where they were told to meet and Jay calls Will. Will asks if they got out safely and then says that he is sorry. The next thing that happens is the top of the building explodes.
Now Jay and Tyler have been set up to look like they had something to do with the bombing and they try to turn themselves in and explain that they had nothing to do with it. That is not happening. They are prime suspects and their faces are all over the news. They were caught on video fleeing the museum before the bomb exploded.
The rest of the episode Jay and Tyler attempt to leave New York, are captured and then are helped by a mysterious man. The conspiracy is larger than expected and they cannot even prove that Will Traveler ever existed.
This show looks to be interesting and I will most likely watch it when Lost finishes up the season. You can catch the first 10 minutes at ABC.com.
Last night I missed My Name is Earl but it must have been very funny because Allison was laughing up a storm in the living room as I finished up the painting of the molding in the future living room. When she told me about it I wish I had seen it.
I did finish up just in time to see the office. I think that one of the funniest parts was the opening with Dwight and Jim. I missed The Office last week and I think it was probably much funny than this week’s episode. This episode was certainly cringe worthy. There were so many points where you want to slap Michael for being so ridiculously naive and stupid. And then you feel for him because he just wants to be loved and have companionship. I also liked the part where Pam says to the camera, I am saying too much. The women’s bathroom was a great scene because you never really see the guys hang out with each other. I also loved the end where Dwight sees his reflection. That was great.
Next up was Scrubs. I love Scrubs but I am a bit pissed at J.D. and I think the end was terrible because, no it shouldn’t have been you J.D., you know why? Because J.D. only wants Elliott when he can no longer have her. He should have gotten his head out of his butt long ago and got over whatever hangups he has and be with her. We have seen this throughout the years with Scrubs and I think it is nice that Elliott and Keith are together. So, with that being said, Scrubs was pretty good… except for the ending.
And one more thing, what the heck is going on with Turk having hair? Both Turk and Dr. cox have the same hair now. Was turk getting back at Cox for Cox shaving his head? I was very unnerved by the whole hair thing with Turk.
Since TV was just okay last night I will also give mention to a few other items.
Rescue Me returns to TV on June 12 on FX. – Thanks Pop Candy
Allison told me about this movie that is coming out starring Robin Williams, John Krasinski and Mandy Moore.
Robin Williams puts Mandy Moore and John Krasinski to the test and finds out if they’re really ready to get married.
Last night Allison and I watched The Office and Scrubs.
On the Office Roy attempted to beat up Jim, however Dwight saved the day by macing Roy and rendering him incapacitated. There were so many funny parts of the show that I can’t put them all in here. Angela getting all hot and bothered after each account of the attack. That set up for an awesome reveal at the end of the episode involving Jim.
Jim’s attempts to make things even with Dwight and Karen’s explanation of why Jim would be trying so hard. I think that Karen is pretty much the only person in the office who isn’t crazy in some way. Kevin warning Jim about Roy being in the office right as Roy was about to leave, great timing. Darryl inviting Toby to stay with his cousin and not Michael. Michael wearing a woman’s suit. The wikiapedia negotiation tactics. Toby, “Where are we going?” Michael “I’m going to take you out to the parking lot and smash your head with a hammer, come on”
What I didn’t find so great: Jim completely shoots down Pam, what is wrong with these two.
On Scrubs we see one life end and another begin. Jordan and Dr. Cox have a baby girl and Dr. Cox tries to keep the birth a secret because Laverne is dying and he didn’t want the birth of his daughter to remind everyone of the day that Laverne died.
I will miss Laverne as a character, she had many funny lines and was a welcome character in the show. The goodbyes were touching and heartfelt and funny as only Scrubs can deliver. I love that J.D. is going to be the godfather of baby Jennifer Dylan. “She will be forever known as J.D.” Just such a classic show. I absolutely love watching it over and over. We catch Scrubs on Comedy Central each evening and I usually see an episode or two at the gym.

Today’s photo was taken by me using a great new device that I just received in the mail. I learned about this from Cali Lewis on GeekBrief.tv. It is called the QuikPod and I wrote a great post about it on Flatwater. I used the QuikPod for today’s Photo-A-Day and a few other things that I am working on and am very excited that it arrived before the weekend. So now I can try using it while I am on my snowshoeing trip this weekend. Continue reading Photo-A-Day #700 03/09/07
