Trimming the Tree 2014

Photo-A-Day #3540

I do love these kids so very much. When I took this photo I was getting so stressed out and short with everyone. Trying to get the kids to stand nicely was not working. I ended up getting a bunch of images of the kids just being silly while I was more and more stressed about getting a great shot. I need to just relax.

We decorated the tree tonight. It has been a week of late nights and crazy things going on so why not get the tree decorated as well. I’m kind of glad that we did get it done because it is one more thing to get us into the holiday mood. Of course for me it is just to get stressed out like a madman. I try not to but it is a stressful time of year. This year Andrew wants a purple sailboat because that was something from a cartoon he enjoys. We did manage to find a red Playmobil sailboat and I got a can of purple spraypaint, we’ll see how that goes. It is the only thing that he’s been asking for.

For Eva she wants an Anna doll from the movie Frozen. I need to find that one. I wish I had realized it sooner and started looking, I would have already had it. I hope I find one.

With or without those toys, the kids will have plenty to open on Christmas morning. I just hope that Allison and I have a moment or two together before Christmas Eve to make sure that we are all set. At least we have the tree decorated and the kids enjoyed it.

Trimming the Little Trees

Photo-A-Day #2440

Today we put up Eva’s little tree and Andrew’s little tree. These are for their bedrooms but Eva decided that she wanted her’s in the hallway and we were going to put Andrew’s there anyway. Eva received this little tree when she was born and it has been set up in her room every year ever since. Each year we buy one special ornament for her tree and we are doing the same thing for Andrew. This year Eva has a very special Jessie (from Toy Story) ornament and Andrew has a very cute sled made to look like a pack of Crayola crayons.

Trim the Tree With Starlight Flare

Photo-A-Day #1711

I love this time of year. The sights, sounds and smells of the seasons are so wonderful. It is a wonderful time of year to take photos. Christmas lights are perfect subjects. They don’t move, they they look incredible the longer you leave the shutter open and there are so many colors and possibilities. Shooting wide open also allows you to get some great bokeh too. There are so many options. Get out there and start shooting the lights.

Santa Knows What?

Photo-A-Day #1709

For the past 3 years Allison and I have been getting our Christmas Tree from the Boy Scouts of Troop 23. A quick trip over and we picked out a nice six footer. The boys there do a very nice job and the trees are always decent ones. We’ve had some really good luck over the years. This one is another fantastic one.

Home is Where the Heart is
Photo-A-Day #1368

Or probably, Home is inside the heart, in this case. I was looking for something interesting to photograph today and I saw this ornament on my parent’s tree. I took a number of shots of it before I stopped so we could get a family photo in front of the tree. For some reason Allison, Eva and I don’t get these family photos on the days of the events. So instead we were all downstairs so we took a few family photos. I posted them to my FaceBook account.

Out on the Lawn

Out on the Lawn
Photo-A-Day #1353

Eva and her pal Duncan take a look into the back yard to see what is going on. What was going on was a ton of snow and later rain in our area. And now it has turned cold again. I wonder if this white stuff will stick around for Christmas.

So today was pretty much a snowed in day. I was up early to greet the milk man because we placed a large order for the week and they needed to bring two milk crates to the door, our box holds one crate. So, since I was up I caught up to date with all the Legend of the Seeker episodes. The show is cheesy and the characters are not as interesting as Hercules or Xena but I’m giving it a chance. Speaking of TV I became a fan of a ton of my favorite TV shows, on FaceBook. There are quite a few repeats.

You may have caught my post below titled Help Stock Eva’s Farm. We’re looking for other bloggers who’d like to help with stock Eva’s farm by donating to Heifer International towards animals for people in countries in need. If you haven’t read this post read it soon. Thanks.

Because today was such a lazy one we were able to wrap all our presents and we even put up Eva’s tree. She put on her special ornament from this year. It is a hallmark keepsake one with Snoopy and Woodstock and a snowman. She had fun putting it on and taking it off the tree. Here are some photos of Eva’s Tree.
