Photo-A-Day #2735
I’ve been on a Skylanders kick this past couple of weeks because I’m gearing up for the release of Skylanders Giants. I’m so excited about the release of this game. I’ve been taking every character that we have and leveling them up to the highest level, putting them through all the heroic challenges and then playing them on the online game. I play the online game in the morning while I’m using the TrekDesk treadmill desk. I’m still not fully up to speed on how to play the online game well in order to level up every character but I’m working on it. I think they go to level 10 on that too, but I am not sure.
This morning I dropped Eva off at school because I had a haircut. I had time to run to Target and look around before the appointment. I was shocked by the pricetag on the Transformers Deluxe figures that they had. These size figures used to be $9.99 and in a few short years the same figures have rocketed up to $17.39. Needless to say, I’m not going crazy collecting many Transformers these days. I’m still collecting the Skylanders though and one thing that I thought I completely missed out on was the Skylanders Sidekick promotion from Frito-Lay. I finally learned that the sidekicks were characters that would appear in the game when placed on the portal of power. They work just like the magical items that help out your Skylanders figures. They don’t actually do much though, they sort of run around with your character throughout a level but offer no enhancement of any kind. But, they are cool and fun to have. I found 4 packs of the specially marked Frito-Lay variety packs and snatched them up.
My discovery must have been a pay it forward type of good karma because while I was checking out the woman at the cash register didn’t ring up the 4th bag and I told her. Then there was a two dollar off two coupon on each bag. I ripped them all off and handed them to the cashier. She rang them all up and was having trouble. I hadn’t realized that I handed her all of them, I was so excited to find them, and I said, that she probably was having trouble because she was only supposed to ring up two coupons. So that is why I say I had some pay it forward good karma of finding these hard to find variety packs and hopefully I end up getting all four of the sidekicks figures.
I picked up Eva after school and we went over to Briggs Corner Pizzeria. You see this week is Attleboro Restaurant Week. This means that a list of restaurants are offering $10 lunches (2 course) and $20 dinners (3 course). Now, the website for this is awful, it doesn’t tell you the menus and offerings from the restaurants, it only links to their websites and the websites aren’t updated. So, we go to the restaurant and find out that they are only participating in the dinner portion of the restaurant week promotion. No matter, the pizza was great despite that.
Tomorrow we are all going to Scorpio’s Restaurant to try that place out, they at least have their offerings on their Facebook page.
Arriving home Eva and I checked out the Skylanders website and I showed her all of the new figures and their videos. Then we played with our LEGO minifigs till Allison and Andrew came home from a visit to one of her friends.
Dinner than bed for the kids and Allison and I settled in and watched E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. I don’t think I’ve seen this movie in 20 years. I got it on Blu-Ray to review because it is being released next Tuesday. I loved that movie and watching it again was fantastic. We agreed that Eva is just a little too young and too sensitive to watch the movie yet, maybe when she is 6 (Drew Barrymore’s age when making the movie).
I guess my good karma wore off because I’m writing this post and staying up to make sure that the dishwasher doesn’t explode suds all over the house. I noticed that James was pawing at the bottom of the dishwasher and I saw a small pile of suds there. Then I saw the drips, on either side. Time to Google dishwashers I guess. It is a rather old unit and it has served us pretty well for the past year. I’m not sure how old it is at this point but many of the parts of the racks are either missing or a soon to be missing. If it can hang on till bonus day we might be in luck.
