Celebrating Mother’s Day

Allison and the Kids for Mother's Day
Photo-A-Day #3321

We celebrated Mother’s Day today with a meal at the Eagle Brook Saloon. Allison put her favorite places into a hat and picked out one for us to go to after we picked Eva up from school. We had a delicious meal and the kids were very well behaved, even Andrew. He’s getting more and more words each day.

Bedtime with the kids was tough. I am headed to California tomorrow to attend the PBS Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Eva was so upset because that means I can’t bring her to school all week and this week she is “Student of the Week”. Mind you, I am not missing some event at school but I can understand because it is a special week for her and she wants me to hear about it. So I put Eva to bed, read her a book and then comforted her for about 30 minutes as she sobbed about missing me and not having any time during the week to play with me and me having to work every weekend.

She brought up many of the same frustrations that I have as well. She asked me why I couldn’t work overnights all week instead. If it was up to me I wouldn’t have to work at any point when I could spend time with the kids but unfortunately Powerball hasn’t shined down upon me, yet. I had a pretty hard time going to sleep tonight.

Hopefully she won’t be too sad all week and I can wake up Friday and take her to school before I have to leave everyone again for a whole ‘nother weekend of work.

Cars Themed Wild Walls by Uncle Milton

Wild Walls Cars

We received a Cars themed Wild Walls to use and review. Opinions of it are 100% our own.

Andrew enjoys the movie Cars very much. He can recognize Lightning McQueen easily and shout his name. When we received the Wild Walls Cars set he shouted “McQueen!” and was very excited about it. Then I let him push the button and hear the sounds and see the lights. He is 2 1/2 so he wanted to push that button over and over and over.

I brought the box up to his room and opened the package. I read through the instructions which recommend that you lay out the decal sheet for 24 – 48 hours so that the sheet lays flat. It comes all rolled up and by laying it flat you will have an easier time keeping the decals stuck to the walls. Take care when removing the decals as some parts of them seemed to be not as perforated as others.

Wild Walls Cars on the Wall

I installed the unit on the wall and this has quickly become a fun nighttime activity for Andrew. I put the unit up slightly out of his reach so that I need to pick him up to push the button. Or so I thought, He uses a little step stool to boost himself up and push the button and we have awoken to sounds of race cars on more than one morning. Luckily you can set the unit to just do lights and the sounds aren’t crazy loud.

All in all a good little way to dress up a child’s room with their favorite characters. You can find Wall Friends at select Target stores as well as on Target.com. There are a variety of characters including Cars, Toy Story and more.
